Dragon Age but that's only because Demon's Souls pisses me off.scar-hawk
haha I would have to say the same thing, I loved Demon Souls but at some times it gets so hard *cough Flamelurker cough* that you just get tired of getting your ass whooped. Dragon Age is much different and also more adaptable imo, I loved the game, played through it 4 times, bought all the DLC's except witch hunt, and platinumed the game. I guess it all boils down to how patient a player you are..
Each one has likable things about it, so its not really a clear-cut choice between them for me. They were both very immersive, had good voice acting, good stories, both were somewhat difficult (demons souls moreso, obviously), good graphics, great soundtracks, each one had lots of options to customize how you chose to play the game, etc etc.
They are two different types of games. To me, a game like Dragon Age belongs on the PC with a mouse and keyboard. While Demon Souls is just one hell of a game to play on the PS3 because of how it looks and how well it plays. They are both very good games so I'd say play them both, but only DA if its on the PC because it just doesnt feel right on the PS3.
Apples and Oranges. They were both great games and offered completley different experiences. I thought DS was new, original yet innovative while Dragon's Age was a clone of Neverwinter Nights (PC) so Dragon's Age got old very quickly because I had been there and done that many times. I thought DS was made simple with carful thought while DA was made complex but sloppy. All in all, my vote goes to Demon's Souls.
i own both and i say Dragon Age. I've beat DA 3 times and DS once, never played into New game+ on DS didnt interest me. I barely consider DS a RPG its more like a Hack&Slash Adventure game with a stat page, Plus there was so little amount of gear i collected almost all of it on my first run through so no need for New Game+.
Eh, different type of game really. I love Dragon Age and have bought all the DLC and the addon but I loved Demon's Souls too. If I'm in a story mood DA obviously wins then. If I'm bored and just want to kill things or if I'm more interested in gameplay rather than story, the DS wins. ^^
I couldn't get into Demon's Souls. Not really the difficulty that bothered me either. It lacked some of the staple RPG elements that I like and I just couldn't get immersed. You're some warrior that walks into a fog and you do some barrel rolls and try not to die. The end? Dragon Age at least has fleshed out characters and a decent story. Not a huge fan of the gameplay though. You would think that you would want to mostly focus on your character you made and went through its origin story in combat, but no the real point is to pause and micromanage your whole team which is a little tedious and unrewarding in a lot of ways. But I was at least able to finish it a few times. I haven't been able to finish Demon's Souls.
both are great games, but demons souls is better. it doesnt need big cutscenes or grandiose orations to keep me going. the environment is so well crafted that it does that on its own. people will say "oh, it has a paper thin story", but that is missing a lot of the work from the developers who gave each level its own backstory conveyed to the player naturally rather than merely told. from software trusted me to appreciate its game and i was happy to do so.
DS is more unique, in the sense that it's an exclusive title with a distinctly different approach to role-playing gameplay. but overall, Dragon Age is the better game. but it's noteworthy that i played DA on pc, where the game shines the most.
