Demon's Souls Weapon Upgrade Q

how high do you have to upgrade a weapon before you can start adding fire/magic/etc effects to it? i got invaded by a guy who had a fire sword today, and it owned me, i would like one of those please! can ya help meh?

I think that was turpentine. It is an item that adds fire to your sword.

I'm not sure there is a permanent upgrade like that or if there is I haven't gotten that far.

I beat the first two bosses and am soul level around 30 ish.

They do give you spells to enhance your weapons later on that's also an option that I'm aware of.

P.S. to get by them if you are in world 1 I'd recommend finding a nice shield to block their first attack then going behind them to riposte. If theres a big group use the oil flask to block up a few barrels and hurt them or just throw the oil flask at them.

It was most likely the Dragon Longsword. You can get it in 2-2.

it varies depending on how youre upgrading it, but usually +3, then youll need the certain type of stone shard to change it. if his sword had flame attacks, that's a dragon type weapon (use dragonstones dropped by bearbugs and some crystal lizards and the pure dragonstone is dropped by the dragon god, all are found in stonefang).

but if his sword was really on fire, thats just turpentine (maybe black turpentine if he really owned you)

just upgrade your sword to +3 and then the option for the dragon upgrade will be available with the blacksmith in 2-1. or you can pick up the long dragon sword +1 in 2-2.

not all weapons have the same upgrades so make sure the weapon you are upgrading can do it before you start.
