I am nuts or don't I remember abunch of complaining back when the PS2 first came out about development issues? I know that the original PS was supposed to be a breeze to develop for (remember, every game used the same cheesy 3d engine) and then when the PS2 came out we read about the dev issues...

They obviously figured everything out for the PS2, I am sure when they unlock more of the PS3 cell's power we won't hear anything else about it..

Remember, it took sometimes 5 years before some consoles saw there best stuff....

Yeah and like before the ps2 had a bad launch and start for the first year... THe ps3 has only been out for a couple of months but its starting to pick up now. Do i smell gaming history repeating itself?

Personally the fact that the PS2 was a success doesn't justify that it did not have very good developer tools and that the hardware was hard to work with. Same with the PS3, but this time around Sony is working a bit harder to help developers, but they still have a ways to go before it is actually gets where it needs to be. At least this time Sony is trying to improve. Of course this time developers aren't jumping to make 3rd party exclusives or in some cases even decent ports.

Oh yeah. I remember ALL that junk. Only then, 360 was replaced with Dreamcast and PS3 with PS2. That's what I've said a zillion times when this "bash PS3 junk" was hot.

That was a great read. I also like what John Carmack had to say about the ps2. I believe he said pretty much the exact same thing about the ps3 a few weeks ago.

Looks like history repeating itself (either that, or these "video game experts" just rehash and retell old stories because they come up with anything new.)

Edit: John actually made the comment about the ps3 around May 2006, so it wasn't just a few weeks ago.
