Yesterday, I was bored as heck so I went on PS Home. There, a girl in minimal clothing started following me around everywhere, saying "Hello" over and over. Here's the conversation we had.

Girl: Hello.

Me: .....

Girl: Hello

Me: (Angry) How much for one night?

Girl: WOW -.-

Me: Well, you're certainly dressed like one.

Other guy who wants to impress girl and feel like a hero: Enjoy your ban, I reported you for sexual harrassment.

Me: .....Whatever.

Today, as soon as I start up my PS3, it says "Cannot access Playstation Network" instantly. Is it because I actually got banned, or is it just the power outage going on?

Also, I have not received an E-mail or message or anything.

As soon as I turn on my PS3, it says that can't access message at the top right. Is it the same for you guys? Or does that message only appear for you once you try to log in?

I doubt you actually would get banned for something like that, and yeah, PSN is down. Don't worry about it.

Of course you will get that message if you're attempting to sign in or have it on auto-sign in when the network (PSN) is down. How could you not figure that one out after I stated that PSN is down from the first time?

Why would you get banned for such a minimal offense? The fact that you did not get an e-mail should tell you that the probability of you being banned for such a dumb thing is small.

Can people ask simple questions without getting their head bitten off? The guy was aware of the network being down but he wasn't sure that was the reason he couldn't sign in. So he asked. Is there ANY reason to be a jerk about it? Some people on these forums... God forbid someone should ask a question.

how many of us work for Playstation??? How many working for PSN, handling and judging the action to take, concerning PSN complaints??? Realistically, how should we know. 2 obvious factors are pointed out. 1.PSN is down. 2.Did you get an email.

Agreed, I mean really, if you did that, a guy said you would be banned, and then you couldn't sign in, wouldn't you have the same reaction. Even if its down, there is still a chance to worry

That couldn't be any more irrelevant. The first thing I do when I can't log onto PSN is I call my friend up and ask if he's having the same problem. Normally when you try to log on to PSN and there's a network error, it does not give immediate feedback. That is the case he described. He's experiencing an issue he hasn't experienced before and he's making sure that other people are experiencing the same thing. If I thought I got banned, I might panic a little too and ask other people. That isn't a crime and anyone that's jumping down this guys throat for that needs to get off their high horse and do something constructive with their time instead of being a ****.

What are you talking about? Someone told him the day before that they would report him for sexual harassment. The next day he can't sign on. It is a completely reasonable thing to think that your account has been suspended or banned after that.

Again, that's irrelevant. He had reason to believe he'd been reported to Sony. Honestly, I don't believe for a second that any of you wouldn't suspect that your account was suspended or banned after being told you were being reported for sexual harassment, some Sony has zero tolerance for. So don't give me that crap.

Get over yourself. Just because a message that states "you cannot be connected to PSN at this time" pops up then all hell is breaking loose. You've been banned because of a dumb PS Home convo. If there was a message stating "You've been banned from PSN" then I wouldn't have said oh, it's just PSN down.

This actually turned into a big thing. Canwe jsut drop it and leave it at he was worried and did this, doesn't matter now, he did it, its over with, drop it please

Get over myself? What? Yes, asking a question on a message board is a clear indicator that all hell is breaking lose  Yeah, I think it's obvious that you need to get over yourself bud. There's no warrant for being rude or obnoxious. If you're going to be a jerk answering a simple question, then just keep your mouth shut and move on. If it was that stupid a question than it's not worth your time. At that point, you're just making yourself look like an ass.

That's the beauty of the internet. I can state it was a dumb question whether or not you agree with my actions or how I present it. Thus, the question was dumb, and common sense should kick in.

Common sense is relative to the person. One who is not savvy with being banned does not know what being banned constitutes. And thus to gain information, they ask questions. If you can't understand that, then no one is dumb except you.

Look at my post. I supplanted those comments with why it's reasonable to suspect that you've been banned. You can't assume everyone knows what to expect when they get banned. If he knew that you would be notified about it, that's the first thing he would have checked. He didn't, so he asked the question. I see nothing wrong with that. That's how you get information, you ask.

Using your theory if my tire is flat, but I'm not sure what a flat tire looks like. I must call someone to verify my tire is flat even though they physically cannot see my flat tire. that makes someone mildly idiotic.

Bad comparison. You're not dealing with a tangible object, you're dealing with an electronic that can display different symptoms for different problems. I'll say it again, he does not know what it's like when your account is banned. He does not know the difference between a sign in error and attempting to log into a banned account. He experienced a symptom that he was not accustomed to. He was instantaneously unable to sign in. So he ask "hey, I know the network is down, but is everyone else getting knocked of instantaneously too?" Why? Because he doesn't know how the account reacts when you're banned. So for all he knows, everyone else is experiencing the normal delayed sign in errors. Obviously, he's never been banned before. Is there something wrong with that? No. So he asked a question. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Actually, something like that would be the last thing on my mind.

I was thinking the same thing at the time of the incident. I was all "no way I'll get banned for this." But today when I turned on my PS3 WITHOUT KNOWING about PS3 being down, I panicked. I then moved my a$$ to my computer to check what was up on Gamespot. There, on the front page, I saw the thing about PSN being out. However, I was still a bit nervous because I had Googled earlier how long a ban for sexual harrassment would be, and a guy on Yahoo! Answers said it would be permanent.

So then I came to the PS3 forum to just make sure if this was a bannable offense and if everyone else was getting the same error message.

The PSN is down, SOny hardly ever bans, especially over one report about something harmless and insignificant. By the way though, a lot of people who have gotten temporary bans have got them from Home, so I'd stay off of Home, as if Home being terribly boring wasn't reason enough.

[QUOTE="bblundell"][QUOTE="frostybanana"] Common sense is relative to the person. One who is not savvy with being banned does not know what being banned constitutes. And thus to gain information, they ask questions. If you can't understand that, then no one is dumb except you.

F***ing hell, leave it to the GS community to get in such a huge f***ing argument over nothing...

The guy already said that he's figured everything out...

I am kind of curious about this, while we all are probably thinking the female avatar is probably owned by a guy, so couldn't have said anything without exposing their lie, I just wonder what you would actually have to say to get banned on PS Home, I have heard some outrageous stuff said to people in there, most of it being ignored by the person it was aimed at, but then still saw those same people on a day or two later, can they really ban people for what is said there and do they, because if they did there'd be very few people there.

I have an idea: don't act belligerent, immature, do and/or say things that could possibly get you banned and then you wouldn't need to worry it. Problem solved.
