did really the last update (2.60) crash the ps3?

i did the update

Ya know, I hear this almost every single firmware update. I get all worried and try to avoid it, then finally I just upgrade. Never had a problem yet. I think the people that have issues with it are doing it wrong. :P Oh, and the DRE has been around long before this update. I wouldnt worry about it.

I downloaded the update from my PC but i didn't install it cause am having exams right now

but i tried to avoid the last update because of the rumors and now again for v2.6 :S

am definitely updating this time...

How many times does it have to be said, firmware updates don't brick a PS3. It's merely a coincidence and it's likely the PS3 was going to breakdown on it's own, and it hapened at the time of updating.

My own PS3 stopped reading disc's one week after bought it, less than a week after I did major firmware updates, but I knew instantly it was simply the disc drive decided to become a paperweight.

I always read about other people's systems crashing with every single update, I have never got anything like it, with any of the updates...I guess ppl get that when they have trash like ubuntu or linx installed in their systems.....I still have no idea why will ppl put that in there is such a hog..but anyway...

PS3's are super reliable, firmwares have caused freezing (especially in the internet browser), but no brinking. :D

naw I've have linux on my PS3 for a long time... about a year and a half. and I've had my PS3 since the first december it was out. the PS3 is really reliable. mine will freeze from time to time... but nothing serious :)

its nice to think the update caused the malfunction because then the repair costs would be covered. sadly, its never proven

every time theres a new firmware some website has to say that it crashes your ps3

i cant listen music anymore...

when i press x on any song ps3 crash... music playing but controller doent work anymore... only thing u can do is reset console...

like wtf:Swhen sony fix it...many users have problems with 2.60 and still no fix.

My PS3 is fine, however, I am encountering some problems with COD both 4 and World at War. Not able to download any settings. Works alright with NBA2K9 though. Can anyone advise on this?

they say that about every update now.. dont worry just download it
