I liked it for the most part. I suppose I'm the opposite of several others here, where I didn't enjoy the first few levels and though the game got better as it got closer to the end. The early missions especially where a little too much of a rail shooter for my taste. The art design, while typical of an Orwellian type society as depicted in movies and games, was pretty neat.
There are some specific things I disliked about the game:
-The gameplay could be a bit repetitive. A lot of areas felt like I was just moving to the next spot, wait for 4 or so guys to appear, take them out, and then move on to the next are and repeat.
-The enemy AI, and other aspects of the game, was buggy at times. I remember a few parts in the game where it looked like a firefight was intended, but the two sides just sat there not doing anything. I was able to walk up to the Helghast and shoot them in the head with no reaction from them.
-While the gun controls felt a little more realistic than a lot of shooters, the overall controls felt somewhat sloppy. I never could get them where they felt quite right.
-Like a lot of similar shooters, I hated most of the teammate interaction. Especially between stereotypical black tough guy #437 and the half-Helghast guy.
-The voices for the Helghast were generally annoying. Especially when they just shouted. Along with the buggy AI, they often said things that didn't make sense given the circumstances. Like when I was the only one left, and hiding behind a barrier while picking them off. They'd shout "we're pinned down". No they weren't.
Despite all those complaints, the game had a pretty interesting story and a well made game world. If some of the technical issues had been fixed, I could have overlooked some of the other complaints more. I'd rate it at least a 7.5/10. Good, but flawed.
