yep. I was playing MGS4 on my sdtv and then got tired of trying to read the tiny text...went out and bought an hdtv/monitor shortly after. gaming is much easier now. :P
Nope, had a hdtv a year before I got my ps3. Mostly I bought it for 360 and hd channels at first. Ended up getting a ps3 for more hd features ( teh blu ray) :).
What really sucks is that my T.V broke last week, 1 day before I moved. (go figure) Now I just can't play anything, going from a 42' HDTV to a 21' SDTV really blows. I'm not sure if I'll even bother trying to play anything until my TV's fixed or I get a new one.
Yes it did. Back when Enchanted Arms was one of the only RPGs out for PS3 I bought it and couldn't read the menus or anything. So I bought a HDTV a few months later and played it a little more before I realized how much Enchanted Arms sucked.
Yes. Got a PS3, was not satisfied with the quality, realized I have a semi hdtv in my house (flat screen 20 inch plasma, not widescreen, also known as edtv). Used it for a few months, was not satisfied, got a Samsung 22 inch 1080P HDTV last year and could not be happier with it. I could never bring myself to game in SD again with HD consoles.
actually my hdtv made me wanna get a ps3, in canada it seems HD satellite tv is out put in 1080i and i wanted to see wat my tv could really do i went out and bought a ps3 and mgs4 and it looked great
Got my PS3 Oct 11th, 2007, and played on a 32' SDTV until May 08, when I bought my 40' Sony Bravia 1080p. While they've come down significantly in price since then, I still consider it one of the best investments I've made thus far. As of now, I have a complete home theater in my room, with 7.1 receiver (currently hooked ups 5.1), PS3, HD Verizon cable, and 5 Disc Upconvert DVD player (which came with my HTIB).
first time I saw a PS3 "in action" was with MGS4 on my cousin's house he got a really bad tv, plus he had the AV cables, not compents, the AV I must say that it's almost impossible to read anything playing with AV cables. then he got dead space, and it's EVEN HARDER to try to read the text or even to see the remaining bullets. happily for me, I had the compent cables for the PS2, so when I got my PS3 I noticed it was the same input, so I used the component cables, it helped to read a lot more, but my fat oval TV didnt allowed me to see all the screen while playing (the screen was cutted, for example in MGS4, I could just see half of the ITEM slot) so for my vacations I went to colombia. LCD's are really cheap there, I bought this Samsung series 4 tv 26 inches 1080p with dynamic contrast and 3 HDMI inputs from an arab guy, he was a really cool guy, the TV was 470$ and he sold it to me for 420$! after that I bought the HDMI cable for the PS3, for 80$ :S (that was pretty much of a scam, and apparently it was the "original sony HDMI ps3 cable") and even when the tv is 1080p I rather playing on 720p, because if I play on 1080, the pixels look huge, because it's a 26 inches screen and they dont fit on it
Sort of. Before my PS3, I was content with PC gaming on my nice monitor, and watching television in standard def. After, I couldn't stomach how much lower res my PS3 games were then my PC games, so I had to make the leap.
I bought my HD way before getting my PS3. if my surround sound never broke I probably wouldn't have my PS3 yet. I promised myself I wouldn't buy one until FFXIII came out.
To an extent, it probably depended on when you bought the PS3. The number of HDTV's has grown over the last several years as older TV's stop working, analog signals becoming defunct, and the propagation of high definition content. I bought a launch unit and bought an HDTV the following Thanksgiving.
