is there any recent game that can match the difficulty of demon's souls?

Demon souls's isn't difficult its just unforgiving. By the end of the game you'll be really good at it (i hope) and you realize its not that hard at all once you know the patterns behind everything.
A difficult game is one where you know your probably not going to complete it but after hours on end you finally got a lucky break and do it.
Uncharted 1 on Crushing is a DIFFICULT game.

I understand it's your opinion and all, but I doubt many people find/will find Uncharted on crushing difficult.
On another note:
Killzone 2 on ELite
CoD WaW on Veteran
Bioshock on Survivor (It's not that hard but it encourages lots of strategy and creative thinking)
Fallout 3 on very hard

COD on veteran is indeed one of the most difficult experiences ever! Takes about at least an hour to get through a section of a chapter. Doesnt help that enemies respawn on COD.I plan on purchasing Demon's Souls in June whwn it releases in the UK but I have a few questions, I would be great-ful if anyone can answer. Oh and can't be bothered to get the answers myself :P
Don't think so, it's definitely one of the hardest games I've played. Actually, I just got it the other day, and it's been fun but it's amazing how seemingly normal fights against regular enemies can go horribly wrong so fast if you mess up. Heck, I just beat the first boss and then went onto the next section. I never knew what I was doing when I went through the fog and then I saw the Tower Knight... oh god that was a fast death.
- Very few. Don't buy this game for the story. - Don't know, but probably. - Yeah. Castles, swamps, towers, more open areas... - I don't remember to be honest, not as long as I though it would be. Probably in the 30 hour range. - Yes, definitely. One of the best parts about this game. When you start a new game it's called new game (+) with an additional addition(lol) sign added everytime you restart. Enemies get harder to kill on the second playthrough.I plan on purchasing Demon's Souls in June whwn it releases in the UK but I have a few questions, I would be great-ful if anyone can answer. - I love stories, are there any cutscenes in DS to progess the story ?
- Is it harder than NG and DMC3 ?
- Is there variety in the landscape ?
- How long is it ?
- Does everything carry over on the next playthrough onece you complete the game ?

Mega Man 9 and 10....
cyee
i havent played 10, but ive played 9 and i find demon's souls more difficult
Really? I at least felt like I could get better at Demon's Souls- better weapons, upgrading selectively, and just plain mastering the mechanics. Not to mention that you can soul farm and join other player's games to get clues on bosses, etc.....Mega man, well, it reminded me of why I didn't finish alot of games back in the NES days, especially trying to play it the first time without knowing the boss' weaknesses. And that was just Normal Difficulty. A different sort of difficult, sure, but to me it says something that Ive finished Demon's Souls but not Mega Man.....
I suppose MM 10 doesnt count, as it has an easy mode to use (9 didnt)

i actually completely forgot about the online component. ive been playing it without the online feature, because i currently don't have a stable internet connection. this probably makes it a lot harder. and i grew up playing the mega man games, so im probably used to that style of gameplay more than demon's souls. i managed to finish mega man 9 though and i have yet to beat demon's souls, though im still working on it.
@ cyee: Man, if you get a chance to play DS online, do it. With the help you can get and give, and the PvP component it gives the game a whole different depth, especially considering it is seamlessly integrated with the normal play and not a separate game unto itself...
