The previous reply is correct. I play divx videos myself. I installed Yellow Dog Linux on my PS3 which was really easy. The hard part is that I had to install a program called mplayer. If involved downloading source code and compiling and linking it into an executable. It sounds complicated and it was, but there are lots of information on the internet about how to do this you just have to do some google searches and read and hunt a bit. He's right that vlc program will play the divx video's too but this is really no easier to install. I have this installed too. You have to get the install program for vlc but this will complain it needs another program and that will complain it needs another.

When your up and running its great. :D
