The game is pretty damn fine, but I think they could have put more effort into a franchise that has sooo much potential. The repeated boss fights makes capcom seem lazy, and whats up with the shadows in the forest stage??
The level design is a bit archaic, but the combat is as addicting as it ever was. Two characters with their own styles of play make it easier for me to overlook the large amount of backtracking because both are incredibly fun to play.
Instant reving keeps battles engaging and I find the boss fights to be pretty fun, in some ways better than DMC3. I have just started Son of Sparda mode. It's not so bad. The enemies are a bit more aggressive which makes it harder for me to maintain a high combo rating. I kind of wish enemies would provide more audio cues, though. It's pretty irritating losing your combo rating because of an off camera enemy.
Overall, I think it's a great game. They could have done more with it, but I'm happy with what I have.
I haven't bought it yet, but from playing the demo OVER and OVER again, it's a really fun game. Graphics are pretty nice and the combat is sick, as usual. I don't care about the people saying it flat out sucks because most of them are 360 owners who never played a game like that before. A lot of them that do like it have played Ninja Gaiden, however.
