If your having DNS problems you will need to contact your ISP as that is where the DNS servers are located

You using a router or got your PS3 plugged straight into the modem?

Usually your router's IP is your DNS, because it forwards the DNS request to the actual DNS servers of your ISP. Do you not have DHCP enabled on your router? If you do you shouldn't have a problem with this.

I currently have an Arris modem which I use a wired connection and hook it up to my ps3. I test the internet connection and it identifies my IP address but it still fails with finding my internet connection and I get the DNS error. I tried many things from resetting the modem, entering DNS numbers manually, and a few other things as well. Nothing. Any other help? Thanks.

Try doing a power cycle (unplug/turn off router, modem, Ps3 for 30 secs to 1 min.)
