I was just over my friends house, and I was trying to help him set up his launch model PS3 to his wireless network. I couldn't find an option anywhere to turn on Wi-Fi or connect using Wi-Fi. So, we went out and bought a ethernet cord to hook it up. I was just wondering if this was normal or if I just couldn't figure out how to turn it on. I have a PS3 Slim and had no problem getting my Wi-Fi to work, but I couldn't seem to find it (if it was there at all) on his launch model PS3.

The original 20GB Ps3s don't have wi-fi. It's easy to recognize b/c the 20GB is all black and has no chrome striping on the outside.

Well, another thing I noticed is that with my launch model, there was a flip open door that held several memory card slots. Now, although his is from the same era, it doesn't have that "door". Is that indicative of a 20GB model? Thanks for the help by the way. Kudos.

I'm not sure, but I think so. I have the 60GB and I'm just going on what I remember from 2007 when I was choosing between the two...

The 20GB had ethernet, and the 60GB had wi-fi. You can google "playstation 3 wiki" and discover the answer for yourself though. Actually, here you go, I did the easy work for you. PS3 Wiki

The 20 gb was the most sexy of all the B/C PS3's. On topic, your friend must have a 20gb PS3, it was all black with no flip door that reveals slots for SD cards and what ever. A feature I never even use on my 80gb so I feel that it's a dumb feature. Ask your friend if he wants to trade his 20gb for my 80, it has wifi ;)

20 gig, 60 gig and 80 gig. All can play PS1 games though.

That's not entirely accurate. Not all 80 gig systems can play PS2 games. You have to check the model # (on back, starts with CECH) and then search online for that particular model to be 100% sure.
