Do European PS3 games work on Aussie consoles?

Do European PS3 games work on Aussie consoles?

This might seem like a stupid question but I need to be sure, and I don't know where to check.

Someone please help me? 

Yah, games region free. I have the Asia/US version (pretty sure its asia/NTSC) and mine will play the BR discs I bought here in Aus so I think they aren't region locked either. The problem is that I can't play my PAL DVDs on my PS3 or any of the AUS PS2 games. Neither of these are a big problem for me coz I have a DVD player anyways, which plays DivX too and I also don't have any PS2 games, so it's no biggy.jrdnpain
