Which of the two games would you buy?

GT5 does look very impressive with great graphics and the usual nice technical approach to racing however after playing the downloadable demo i feel that this game is lacking a certain something. After racing round the track a couple of times in various cars i felt that the cornering was shocking due to the car gripping the road way too much oblivious to which tires were fitted on the car. I then looked at Grid and this game just seems to better GT5 is all areas, the graphics are equally as good, the gameplay looks so much better and also there is a much wider variety of driving style i.e. circuit, street, drifting etc.

Which game would you go for? Any opinions here?

Well right now I'm going for GT5 Prologue because I'm looking for a racing simulator and I'm assuming that GRID is going to have very similar handling physics as DiRT which were a little too arcady for my tastes.

To address your comments about GT5. You probably had autostabilizer on. You can adjust the grip to make it far more realistic where if you take a corner too hard, you're going to slide out. Also, GT5 Prologue will have the circuit courses (Fuji, Suzuka, Daytona, and High Speed Ring) and street courses (Nord and London). And there is a drift mode as well.

All in all though, GRID will probably be a deeper game than Prologue simply because GRID is a complete game where as Prologue is an example of the tip of the iceberg that is GT5 which comes out later on.

Well, when Grid comes out we'll have more info on it. As of right now, GT5 "Prologue" has no competition. :)

If indeed GT5 will be as good as you mentioned then surely isn't it better to wait for the full version because otherwise you will have to start all over again with the game, or do the save files transfer from one to the other i.e. lisences etc.?

Well I just remember how robust GT4 was. I still haven't completed all the races in it and never will.

They have said all of the cash and cars you earn and buy in Prologue will transfer over to GT5 when it comes out. So it would be more of a jumpstart than starting over. Not sure about licenses. I'm not even sure if Prologue has the license tests or not, but its possible that they will also carry over.

Also, nice sig. Made me lol.

haha glad you like it :)

I would be cool if the cars and money did transfer over however if the lisences didn't then it would be a bit of a pain as they take ages to complete to a decent level. I am slowly getting more tempted to buy it 2morrow wen in town but still dont know tbh.

do you know if car customisation is available on GT5P because that would really rock the boat towards getting the game for me.

Tuning yes. Customization past picking your cars color. I don't think so.

I own GT5: Prologue and it gets old very fast. The US version does have some more cars, but it's still lacking in options and tracks. Go with GRID. The McRae Codemaster's Team has always made excellent racers.

In my opinion this is where GT have always let down the buyer. If they had customisation it would really enhance the game i feel. Not nessercarily chavily but with body kits, extra logos such as vinyls and decals. Grid has full customisation abilities and therefore i think when the time comes it will win over GT5 hands down.

This is what i was affriad of, with only 5 tracks the gameplay must be so very limited. Grid looks amazin even if i have to wait lk 50 something days for it to come out :)

Yup. Just buy GRID and use it as your racer until the full GT5 releases next year. Why buy 1/8 of the game for $40, when you can just wait and get the full thing for $20 down the road? I regret buying it. It was fun while it lasted, though.

I guess if you can't wait till next year for GT5 get GT5 Prologue. Note that the Prologue only has 5 tracks and fewer then 100 cars whereas the full version will have over 50 and near 1000 different cars.

Based on the latest in-game footage Grid looks very average in both graphics and gameplay. The car physics also leave to be desired (the cars are floating just like in Dirt).

GT5P on the other hand is really really good looking, with perfect car physics and infinitelly more realistic gameplay.

Well for me its all about how the cars feel and handle and I've seen CodeMasters physics in DiRT and was really disappointed. I'd sacrifice decals for great physics. But thats just my opinion.

GRID is an arcade driving game while GT are simulation driving games. I'm WAY more into GT5 prologue, but if you enjoy arcade more, I suppose you should go with GRID. Still, if you wanna play a realistic game, you cannot play GRID. But anyway, most people dislike realistic games (too hard to get good I suppose) so GRID may be good for you.

ps: For GT games, you need to buy one and play for at least 10 hours before you LOVE the genre, lol. You should at least buy GT5 prologue to see if you like this or not, and if it's not, don't buy any more GT games, lol.

It's not really fair to call Prologue a sim when there's no damage and wonky car physics. I'd wait for GT5, because they'll be damage modeling.

they definately will be doing damage modeling then? because Grid your car really gets battered and even the barriers beside the track become dented etc. throughout the race which seems really realistic in my opinion. Plus the graphics look unbelievable!
