A good game is gonna be a good game regardless of your type of TV, but at the same time the PS3 and 360s HD support is a big part of what your paying for. You miss out on the full experience w/out an hdtv.treelog187
360 isnt fully hd, they just tried to added a few enhancment cable things cause they were jeleous of ps3

your off topic go to system wars!If you have a standard definition TV and a PS3, you will still enjoy the game until you see how it really looks like on an HDTV. After that it will be a problem. You will notice that motorstorm in the store looks way better then your motorstorm at home.
If I were you I would decide if I wanted an HDTV first. Then if I did then I would get a PS3 because it would open up options to watch HD movies and games. PS3 revolves around HD, so if you don't have HD then you won't get the full experience. If you can except that then get a PS3 for the games. If you don't care about High definition, get a wii because they don't care about high definition either.
yea without a hdtv ps3 arent that good graphically but a wii or 360 do fine with sdtvsMuffinsKill
wow WTF...dont listen to these morons, the ps3 looks hella good on a SDTV you can definately tell it's better than a PS2 game. The lighting and crispness is what's better on a HDTV so to answer your thread NO YOU DONT NEED A HDTV to enjoy your PS3, it will look better on a HDTV but not so much that you'd need to buy one ASAP. My PS3 looks great on my SDTV, I can definately tell it's next-gen.
[QUOTE="Hadoken_Kid"]ok, i dont understand this logic.
a video game console is 600 bucks.
You can get a HDTV for that price or less.
and without a HDTV you are going to be disappointed. Id recommended a Wii for you.BoD_GOA_French
That's what I did, I bought a PS3 first and then bought a HDTV because of everybody was talking about problems with the HDCP. I did alot of research on tvs and got a 56" 1080p tv and I couldn't't be happier with decision. Point is don't hold out on a PS3 for a HDTV, hold out for the tv and make a sound decision trust me...
do i need an hdtv to enjoy a ps3 cause ill get a
ps3 soon and i cant afford an HDTV any time soon.dont say buy an hdtv
cause ill only get one when its about 200-300 dollars.el-tope-pr
It's not required. It's a great addition though (you can see in stores showing off PS3)
Like
you, I can't afford going out buying an HD TV right off the bat. You
can still play a great game and amazing graphics, it's just an HDTV
makes it sharper and can show a lot of the textures a lot more clearly.
If you really want an HDTV, (if you have the cash) you can do one of
those rent to own places. I plan on getting one next year though
(around the same time I bought my PS3 this year) cause of income tax.
HDTV price goes down all the time, but you won't see one for 200-300
bucks for a LONG time. For a small one, you're looking at about 700
bucks (depends where you live) The one I want is almost 900 (note I
live in Canada), and it's a 27' Samgsung HDTV (no need to get the huge
ones) cause smaller are usually the cheapest.
If you can get one, I'd say get it. I would in a heart beat if I could. (but also, I'm kinda a tech geek, so take what you will with that statement)
