Do I need to play Killzone 1 before I play Killzone 2?
Are the stories really related, will I miss out if I haven't played #1 for PS2 or is it OK if I just jump right in?
Thanks.

I didn't play Killzone or Killzone: Liberation and still found this game to be good. It had a much better story that I thought it would, because let's face it, the stories in FPS suck. This one actually had a pretty decent one though. While I'm sure there are some things I missed out on, you can still enjoy the story without playing the first 2.
Yeah, I never bothered with the first one... Killzone 2 is well and good enough to stand on its own.

Playing KZ1 isn't really necessary but I would check this out
http://killzone.com/kz/storyline.psml
It explains the entire Killzone storyline thus far and it's really complex and informative. The people that think the game has a weak storyline are the people that never read this. It will give you all the background information you will need to enjoy KZ2. Have fun, and I hope to see you in the Warzone :P.
Nope. You can just dive right in. Enjoy!
There is Killzone 1??!!Death-X-
Your rules are confusing. If I follow number 1, then I'd be breaking number 2. And if I do number 2, I break number 1. Make them make sense!!!!
I rented this game about 6 hours ago and I'm on the fourth mission (single-player) and it's honestly the best first-person shooter I've ever played, thanks for all the input guys.get-ka12
Yeah, its really good IMO, have fun with it. Have you tried online yet?
Pfft, no. KZ2 barely has any story at all. I thought the same thing before I played KZ2, but after playing it I realized that it's not story driven at all. There are no references to the past or anything. Not that I'm aware of anyway.

You might not have been paying attention, "no references to the past or anything" is untrue, I can think of one right off the top of my head. When you talk to Cpt. Jan Templar you learn about how he has served his battle time and his new spot is watching over the soldiers and commandeering the ship. Which is a reference to you playing as him in the first game.
