Hey, I'm getting a ps3 today and i can play on either my 35 inch SDTV. Or my 24 inch 1080p computer monitor.

People have been telling me ps3 on SDTV will look fine. So is it really worth getting another cable with my ps3?

Colours oand blacks on crt are better but most text is almost unreadable because it s too ow res and blurry. I'd say go for the monitor it really does make a difference at least if your monitor has acceptable contrast etc. most cheap monitors look washed out with lpoor black levels. If you have a decent one go for that.

It's worth the $5-$10 to be able to read the words on the screen. I would get the cable.

Text is very hard to read on a SD tv. I would play on HDTV at any costs. You don't need a hmdi cable. I use a component cable. There really isn't much difference between the two.

Well, HDMI cables are cheap and you'll need an HDMI to DVI converter.

So go with whatever spins your turtle. You're the one playing it :p

I had a big ass SDTV and I had a hard time reading text, I remember playing the BF:BC2 beta and not being able to see any of the word. I had a hard time to reading Text in most of my games, even in U2. My brother had NBA LIVE and he had to call me to help him figure out what the text was saying. When I had my big ass SDTV, I use to think to me self that I didnt need an HDTV, since my tv was big enough, but I was wrong

What if the SDTV is big?

Well, if your SDTV has a component input, I would suggest to get one of those if you prefer using your TV. You'll get the best picture quality that way.

Text isn't that hard to read. Especially if you haven't been "spoiled" by HD playing the same game lol

I had a component SDTV for the first while and it was fine. Any Playstation component cable will do.

Exactly, I had a 32" SONYSD T.V. since launch of the PS3 and I was able to read everything while using the component cables that came with the PS3. You don't REALLY need to go HD, it's really nice but not necessary to play or enjoy games.

Who doesn't want more eye candy?

If you're that kind of person that watches movies and series in terrible quality then SD will do.

Only you said nothing about component cables. You said that you need HDMI to get high-def, which isn't true.

Sure it looks perfectly fine. VHS once looked perfectly fine too. If you want to use your PS3 on a SD set you're perfectly free to. But, to really get the full benefit of it you ought to hook it up to an HD display. The difference is unbelievable.
