last time i tried to play it took like 4 or 5 minutes to join a game. good thing is that once in a game the games last a while with the 3 rounds and whatnot. but yeah long waits before games.

I haven't tried R2. But I love playing CoD4 online. pretty easy to get a game going and doesn't take long to lvl up and unlock things to help you. Pretty fun.

ya a lot of people still play the game. Theres usually around 3,500-4,000 players logged on the weekends, and thats only counting North America. I found MGO to be a great. Its not comparable to CoD4, or Resistance 2 , or warhawk. MGO is its own thing..... some people call it an "acquired taste"...but most if not all games are acquired tastes, like for instance i find that gears of war multiplayer and halo multiplayer to be rather boring and overrated. MGO has a steep learning curve, (luckily there are n00b restricted servers for new comers ) ...its fun none the less.

A part of me wants to confirm that mgo sucks but i'm not sure i can say entirely. After mgs4 came out and i finished it i did play mgo a good bit. When i was playing it then i thought it was good but the more i played it the more awful things became. It's so slow. You can't get a kill unless you get a headshot. I'm not taliking about headshot only mode either. Unless they fixed something, it's extremely hard to drain a players health. A lot of lag too. cqc is terrible and pathetic. The fact that the game runs slow makes everything bad about it magnified. It's stupid that you can't shoot at all times, you always have to aim. I think in most 3rd person shooters you still have to aim to get a precise shot but you can still shoot without aiming. The single player was great but i just feel that it doesn't work well for multiplayer.

-COD4 is and always will be great but if your more into actually choosing if "rambo", or stealthy, or even a person who just uses a knife and gets a lot of kills with it (MGO). But you need to actually pay for clothes in this game. COD4 is a great game because it's fun without choosing equipment but weapons and you can play any way you want but i very highly suggest not going "rambo". -Resistance 2 is also great especially co-op but it is hard to find people with mics but the leveling up is also fun because of 30 VS. 30 competitive mode so if you want to shoot somebody as soon as you turn every corner this is the game for you. Teamwork is essential in games with a lot of people because you can put up shields for you and your partners. *I love teamwork so I would pick up Resistance 2 which i already have." MGO is great and has a lot of things you can do to kill someone such as; choking, stabbing, shooting, blowing up, making them run into a magazine then shoot them while they are looking at it. I would also pick this up too which i had and my brother sold (I will always hate him for it, so now i need to get it again.)

like others said, MGO its something diff, technically, is a tactical shooter or something like that, it isnt like a cod4 run and gun, its more slow pased but still fun. i just started to play it a few days ago after months of playing cod4(got bored of it, i only had like 3 games so thats the reason i think) and i found it very addicting too.

the character and weapon customization is good and the maps too. you can lvl up and also your skills.

the automatching mode takes longer to find a match due to ther isnt a lot of ppl in this mode. the other is free battle, you can go to 1 of the 10 lobbies i think and choose a game, its a lot faster.

feel free to add me if you need some help

To me, MGO is a headache. It's sad and broken. Even Kojima himself said MGO was a failure.

at least i dont play it anymore...at first it was okay for like...1 or 2 months, then i dunno why but for me it is kind of slow gameplay..with all the text in the middle of the screen that doesnt lets you see who you are shooting at..

aim to shoot is mandatory, id like to be able to shoot without aiming...but overall for me is kind of a slow paced gameplay...i have like 5 months without playing it though

I have not played R2...but as far as COD4 and MGO i rotate fairly often for some of the reasons mentioned above, they are two different games and it is nice for the change of pace between the two. You really just have to play it to understand, and like reaperv7 said there is a steep learning curve for MGO compared to COD4. That being said i love MGO and play it about twice as much as COD4.......

I don't know what its like now cos I stopped playing it, but last time I played, whenever I got killed I would die once again after respawning. It is an incredibly buggy and lag filled game, which is sad because underneath it all it truly is superb. Its faults outweigh its merits. I've got to say, I didn't like COD4 online much. Its not that its a bad game, I thought it was great. I just had a hard time motivating myself to play it for whatever reason. In saying this, its a far more polished game. R2 also blows MGO out of the water.

It would be pretty much my favortie online game ever, if it werent for the HORRIBLE servers and lag. Its a dissapointment only because I can play it with more than a few people. Konami ****ed over this one REALLY bad. Imagine the horrible PES 08 servers with 8 times more people. Other than that, if you can run it, you might love it, or hate it. its like the good online aspects of Splinter cell + Couner Strike and socom.

i logged in about 7 hours so far online( as opposed to 80 hours in the actual game), but it actually just started to grow on me now

not saying i going to shell out for the expansions(all that signing up and u are gonna charge me extra to play your game? Get @#$^ed!), its not as fast paced as cod4 but it really is silly to compare against most other online games since it came from somthing so different and the great thing is sneaking actualy works, like in the main game lets face it the A.I. isn't going to win any awards, and then u play against human playes it feels really different and u aren't expecting it so u feel like there is a bit of a learning curve but your just looking at the mountain through a hubble telescope when your five feet away.

also i don't play that much since i lagg alot because of my wireless setup, trying to get a phone line installed near ps3 so i can set the modem up right next to the ps3 and connect via ethernet.

and matchmaking does take a long while but thats because it can't find people becausse people just go to the servers that are already made and join them, much quicker to just jump into a game.

it makes me wonder about mgs5 (or whatever they will call it) what the psn will be like then, maybe then they will use the psn instead of their own silly network, it was ambitious but it could of been done a bit better and cleaner.

And if press metal gear online obviously i want to @#$%ing play online and not be some OCD indecisive person and go back to MGS4(as great as it is). just a redundant spalsh screenalthough somewhat nostalgic for some reason. makes me think of metal gear solid where u could change the background colour when u pressed some buttons, that was nifty at the time (or more like for my age at the time i guess)

I still play it when time from work allows. It's definitely little different then your traditional first person shooter but I find it pretty good. It's more of a tactical game then run and gun.

Teamwork really gets things done. It's not without its flaws but for Metal Gear Solid fans, it's great to pop online and have some fun. There is a steep learning curve and it's rewarding once you have it under control. ;)
