I have and own every version of the Metal Gear Series that has come out State side I believe. Honestly I am making this thread to make the point that Metal Gear is not something to freak out about being on other plats considering it has been on MANY different platforms. I dont understand why people think this way when the only ones not to go multiplat is MGS3 & 4. Also I could care less about Raiden Rising, he sucked in MGS2 and he still sucked in 4.

Metal Gear, Snakes Revenge - NES

Metal Gear Solid - PS

Metal Gear Solid 2/subsistence, Metal Gear Solid 3/substance - PS2

Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes (the best version released for Metal Gear Solid) - Gamecube

Metal Gear Solid - PC

Metal Gear Solid - Gameboy Color

Metal Gear solid 2 Substance - XBOX

Metal Gear Acid 1 & 2, Metal Gear Solid Portable ops & plus, Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker, Graphic Novels 1 & 2

Metal Gear Solid touch - iphone

Metal Gear - phone

Metal Gear Rising - PS3, XBOX 360, PC

Forogt to mention that Substance was PS2 first and no one cares or knows about those Gameboy games they had to be terrible because of their amniemty. The Solid franchise is mainly Sony exclusive. nintendo got the first iteration extremely late.

I knew that.

but the MGS series for me at least starts with Metal Gear Solid on PSone.

Since then the MGS series has been synonmous with the name Playstation. before PS3, the name Playstation conjured images of Solid Snake, GTA, and Final Fantasy.

all three are now shared with 360.

I really - believe it or not - don't mind that their shared on the 360. the more people who can experience the games the more people can appreciate the games.

but no....

instead we'll have flame wars of which one is better, and whcih one pawns the other. and people get stupid fast.

This is kinda random right? We know that MGS is not Sony exclusive just like we know Final Fantasy isn't Sony exclusive. It doesn't change the fact that many of us have ONLY enjoyed the series on Playstations. I know both started out on NES and the like, but I never got my hands on either franchise until I got a playstation and they've been my favorite ever since (well not so much FF anymore). My point is that when you've come to know and love a franchise and have associated it with a particular console you've also come to know and love its kind of hard to accept that they are on anything. Else. Its crazy, I know, but that's just how it is for some people. I for one really don't care, but I'll admit it is nice to have them on my favorite console; exclusive or not. ;)

The point is metal gear solid showed up on gamecube and pc, metal gear solid 2 was on xbox and so on. Ever since mgs4 people have freaked out of the thought that it may go multiplat and now with the next game being multiplat there have been more complaints. Its just not something to worry about since obviously since the PS1 we have seen the games still launch on PS as well.

first off I didnt say you people I said "I dont understand why people think". What else should I refer to PEOPLE as? Also it sounds like you are freaking out about a game being multiplat to come off so Offensive. All I have done is state the fact that the series has had many systems its appeared on.

It appears as if you're the one freaking out...after all you started the topic. I wasn't aware there was a panic!? Also, when you refer to "you people" who are you talking about? You just sound egotistical and absolutely ridiculous.Peabody99224

And like I said: I don't care. I was just explaining why a lot of people are touchy about it. I think its kinda silly and even selfish, but I understand it. For me the MGS series started on the PS1 and I've only enjoyed it on the PS consoles. Some people just don't want it any other way. I'm not one of them, though. Let whoever wants some get some. :P

Don't worry Lord Dice, you don't sound ridiculous at all.

I would like to add that my Final Fantasy Origins and Chronicles PSone discs are ported from something called a "Super Nintendo" system. So I guess all the Wii owners must be going batskit over losing that franchise. Oh wait, they are too busy doing the exclusive virtual step master thing.

I am both sleep deprived and smug at the same time.

I haven't really heard anyone complain about Metal Gear Solid going completely multi-platform...everyone was kind of expecting it anyways with all of the rumors flying around the last three or four months or so. Also, Metal Gear and Metal Gear: Snake's Revenge on the NES that you referred to in your first post have been publicly denounced by Kojima and the original Metal Gear (which was horribly ported to the NES) was on the MSX2 if you want to get technical. One last thing. In my earlier posting I said you had stated "you people" and then insulted, which I plainly misread. My apologies.

yea i know the NES games were not done by Kojima, thats why I stated I have owned every game that has come out state side. It still has the metal gear name though the games were pretty dang bad.

I think the majority of fans realise that Metal Gear didn't start with Sony. But MGS4 was PS3 exclusive and is arguably the best exclusive out on PS3. So of course alot of people are going to be annoyed that MGS is no longer staying exclusive to Sony for THIS gen. (as it was for MGS4)

The fact is, in terms of the current gen system wars, MGS was a big ace in the Sony fanboys sleeve. Now the new Metal Gear is going multi platform and it's understandable that many Sony fans are unimpressed.

Ya I could understand that logic except for one thing, have you looked at the line up for this year and next for Sony? With KZ2, Infamous, Fat Princess, Uncharted 2, Mag, Heavy Rain, Ratchet and Clank, GOW3, Last Gaurdian and so on they are going to have an amazing year! All I am picking up for my 360 this year will be Splinter Cell where my PS3 is almost never turned off now a days :). [QUOTE="SillySkeleton"]

Metal Gear 1 and 2 were on the NES along with MSX yes, but the NES were bad compared to the MSX versions.

um what are you talking about!!! It is the best version. You SIR have not played it obviously. Improved Controls (no more D-PAd for movement, thank you analog sticks!), extended cut scenes, plus the graphics were upgraded to gamecube quality. It's the same game as MGS just finely tuned with a stronger console. Oh and yes Kojima was behind it.

and to squash you johnny heres gamespots summary for MGS twin snakes

"There's no doubt that The Twin Snakes is a great game on its own merits. It marries the better graphics and more entertaining gameplay from Sons of Liberty with the tighter, more intriguing storyline of the original MGS. If you've never played Metal Gear Solid before, here's your chance to experience a truly great game for the first time. If you have played it, here's your chance to experience it again--and better than ever. As long as you're not expecting any huge additions to the Metal Gear milieu, The Twin Snakes serves as a great revival of a true ****c."
