No, people have been telling porkies to you. The games dont crack.
Never heard of a PS3 game cracking although the other console has had a lot of games cracking, some were in a sealed package when they were sold. A Blu-Ray disc is a lot more durable than a DVD.
Yes they can...my GTA4 disk cracked from the inner circle out. I think what broke it was the case. I had a bad habit of putting the game back in the case without pressing the center button...not anymore...
I always take great care handling my games so i was shocked a few weeks ago to find my tiger 10 disc had a tiny crack, almost like a scratch from the inner circle. Play.com kindly exchanged it for a new one and low and behold, it cracked! Explain this: it was in the ps3 console, (and has been since i got the new disc) i had been playing for an hour, switched the system off to make tea and when i switched it back on it wouldnt read the disc, ejected it to find a tiny crack. EA have now replaced it at the cost of £10, most annoying, but proof that ps3 games can crack. I also called sony who told me there is nothing inside a ps3 that could crack the disk. Seeing as i havent been putting it in and out of the box and have been playing it for 3 weeks solid im worried that it is something inside doing the damage.

Two of my PS3 games had cracks in the inner circle and It was from putting them and taking them out from their cases so i bought one of those cd cases to put my games in and problem solved.
No pwobwums so far captain! My games are actually tactfully intact, in fact. From the surface of the scalp my fingers scratch surfaces a thought; it says to me: "All CD's are created equally from the same composite materials and manufacturing process, aside from any additional processes it may go through to come out as Blu-Ray, HD-DVD or any of the other remaining densities. Whoever cracked their discs on any console probably needs to take better care of their belongings." My litter box has become full.
