Do sony 4gb memory sticks work perfectly with the ps3?

cuz i've got sony 1gb and 128 mb memory sticks and they do not work the ps3 reconizes them but the data in then is non existing for the ps3.....

what type of data?  Trying hitting the triangle button and selecting "show all".

did that...did everything....every type of data.... have an sd card done the same thing and it works perfectly.....
