Do Trophies matter to you?

Around the time trophies came out, a few of my friends said that achievements and trophies are basically a waste. So now I'm curious as to how much trophies matter to you?

I think its a cool feature, not absolutely neccesary but a great visual representation of a gamer. I can't wait to try it out with Uncharted.

It is an ok thing. I just don't like how people play games just for the trophies and achievements, or how people automatically buy a 360 version of a game just for achievements. I honestly don't see what is so cool about it. I have had my 360 for a month with 4 games. Most of those achievements have been things you have to do to finish the game overall anyway like beat the levels and bosses. In Ninja Gaiden 2 I have 41 out of 60 achievements and I only tried for 1 of them and even that only took 5 minutes. Then again I don't play with other people that much or care what other people have compared to me. I play a game because I want to.

I liked Uncharted's achievements because they gave you cheats, so you actually got something for going out of your way. On the 360 you get nothing. If Sony could make you do something hard like earn 10 gold trophies and 2 platinum trophies and you can earn a ticket to buy a game from the PSN, yes then I would consider it. gamenerd15

What the difference? There is none, and if you can see it, then you are either a fanboy or are really really ..........

Achievements and trophies work for the same purpose: Impulsing gamers to get them to be able to show it to others. This also boost the sales of some mediocre games if it means 2 more levels or 1000 more points. It gives nothing back.

when i heard about trophies i thought it sounded cool but im not jumping for joy. I think they would be really nice to have and i am looking foreward to earning some and seeing which games my friends play and what trophies they've earned, but its not like i wasnt going to buy a ps3 b/c the 360 had achievments or anything like that. its just a nice little perk that'll keep me entertained.

I think trophies are a waste of time and efforts for the developers (and gamers). Instead of bringing content they will dumb down Ps3 games for the trophies. Who cares about them except those who have no life and feel like being better than others at video games makes them superior. I'd rather be superior to other revelant stuff in real life.LordReithgar

I love the addition of trophies! It gives that little competitive edge to me and the people on my friends list. Just something extra to play for. I'll say it... "I've bought two games from the psn just to get the trophies, I would have never bought before." At least I'm truthful.

I got all the Uncharted in game trophies before and I will gladly try them again when the real trophy update hit the game later this month.

Trophies can be great if they are used in a way that makes the player explore the game in different ways.

That said, the actual trophy count means nothing to me, but if trophies are used creatively, they can add something to a game.

Once there are more games that support them I will care.

Until then they more or less mean nothing

I just want to ask those who say: They make me play games for longer times.

In games as Uncharted and Resistance were you have in game, old fashion achievements, did it helped to play longer?

In the end, people who wants achievements/trophies, is just people who wants to be able to brag about it.

I'll admit it. I personally like trophies, and not because I feel its a braging right or anything I enjoy playing through games and unlocking a trophy or achievement (own both consoles). Too bad we dont have sales numbers for SSHD because Ill bet it help sell. If you dont care for em ok, no need to lash out at those who do. And about the post where games are going to be dumbed down because of trophies LOL well I guess you really are winning at life LOL.
