My router dosent have it listed on it and i have to have sum1 come down and get a WEP key out of my computer and that will cost money.

im jsut wondering if u need a to put in your WEP for security when u are tring to get ur internet running

Not for a wired connection. WEP is only used for wireless. If you tell us what type of router you have maybe someone can post the default password and user ID for you.

WEP is pretty much just as bad as not having a password at all on your wireless connection. For a home user WPA2 + MAC filtering is the way to go. I'm not sure why you would be paying someone to come and get a WEP key out of your computer. Unless you have no clue at all about networking and you've managed to find someone who doesn't mind ripping you off. For a wired connection you don't need any key at all.

That is a wireless router. You could just set the WEP (or WPA/WPA2 password if it uses either of these) password yourself and connect your PS3 wirelessly. Just make sure you have UPnP port forwarding enabled. Just remember for wireless networking WPA2 > WPA1 >>> WEP and always enable MAC address filtering.

A WEP key is the password to connect to your wireless network. If it is your wireless network you should know it, if not well.... next!
