Do U.S. ps3 games work in a european ps3?

But i have heard that because the european tv`s are PAL, some games dont word. Is it true?

I have a Australian PS3 (PAL).

Will PS3 games from USA (NTSC) work? I have a HDTV as well.

I have read lots of posts that say as long as I have HDTV it should be right but I have also read a few that say dont do it!!

Anyone out there using NTSC games on a PAL PS3 with HDTV???

Anyone have any ideas on how to do a workaround to get US games to play on my European PS3? Sony tech help says games won't work because of content restricitions-can anyone give me a clear answer?pcex

Honestly the best thing you could do is order the cheapest U.S. PS3 game you can find like Golden Compass or something which you can probibly pick up for under $10 and test it. I personally say if you have a HDTV and use HDMI then it will probibly work.

Most of the time multiplayer is universal but not always. Some games have a region lock on multiplayer. If your importing a game with multiplayer you will need to do some searching to make sure the multiplayer is not region locked. Strikebang is a good resource alot of the time, it's linked from playasia.com, where I import from. Example Ferrari Challenge had region locked multiplayer until the patch they released removed the lock.

DLC I do believe is region specific, I created an asian account to get DLC for the asian games I have imported. You will need to order PSN cards for the region to buy anything. Honestly the only game I have imported with DLC is Shaun White's Snowboarding. After getting the DLC through the asian account I have no problems playing under my U.S. account with the DLC. Games I have Imported are Yakuza Kenzan!, SW Snowboarding, Afrika, Aquanaughts Holiday, Siren, Ratchet and Clank ToD and Initial D.
