Do you buy movies over the Playstation Video Store?

I can never justify it to myself that downloading the movies is worth it. I would personally MUCH rather buy a hardcopy of the Blu-Ray movie then pay for a digital copy - ironic because i'm ok with buying digital copy of games. I guess the reason i'm ok with games being digital is because it will usually ONLY play on that particular system.

where as movies have never been tied down to one machine or another. your third DVD player doesn't tell you "cannot read disk" unless ofcourse the dvd/cd is scratched.

I would be extremely interested if Netflix or Sony's own version of it came to the Video store. because then your not buying movies. your paying for a service. pay the annual subscription and be on my merry way.

what do you guys think?

I just don't buy movies. Period. I'll rent a movie but i just personally don't buy them. But if I did I would rather have a disc than a digital copy.

I flipflop between bluray and dvd's...the only reason I still buy dvd's is to rip them and put them on my Itouch or PS3

Well, wouldn't it be tied to your account so that you could redownload it on your next PS3? Just like all downloads?

So, here (Canada) we don't have a movie store.

I'm aware you can buy movies, but only rent HD movies?

No, movies can only be downloaded once. You can back them up onto an external drive though. In fact, this is one of the features that Sony added in 2.70.

If it was then how would it stop you from going to a friends house and logging in and getting the movie for them. Thats the way i would think it would work too but im not sure. Even if it does with a BD i could do the same thing and even on my computer.

I have a couple of movies from the Store on my PS3. I like being able to have a couple of movies on my PS3 to watch at any time. $10 seems like a pretty fair price for a movie in my opinion. Especially since it can also be transferred over to a PSP...

Im guessing you got SD movies. I think i would still rather pay an extra 5 and get the DVD (though now the BD is much more likely at like 30 lol).

You can't buy HD movies... Yeah bought movies like The Shawshank Redemption, American Beauty, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind...Would you care if you were watching in 480p? Movies like 300, Sin City, Dark Knight, Transformers, The Matrix on the other hand...BLU-RAY or bust.... Can anyone confirm if you can watch Blu-Ray movies via Remote Play?

Pretty sure you cant watch BD via remote because that would be a huge amount of info to transfer and most of it would be lost since the res of a PSP is like 276*348 or something odd like that.

I reckon it would scale down to that resolution. I'll try it out on my PSP a little later and report on my findings.

I can confirm that Remote Play DOES NOT allow you to watch either DVD's or Blu-Ray movies...

HOWEVER...

You can watch any DIVX encoded movies that you saved on your PS3. Meaning that the vast majority of your porn collection and illegally downloaded movies off of Bit Torrent can we watched via Remote Play.

Hope that helps!

Oh...you can also access your computer's (PC or Mac) Media Server via Remote Play too...

Sadly, Canada does not have the PS Video store. But it doesn't really matter anyways because i would rather have a hard copy of the movie also less room on the HDD.

so if us gamers - by and large, are not buying the movies. then who the hell is?

Sony keeps trouting out the PS Store, and adding movies to it. who the hell is buying? or are most people just renting?

if Kaz Hirai is hinting that PSN video store could be implemented into other Sony products like TV's and DVD/Blu-Ray players, who the heck is buying?

Can it really be that profitable?

I've purchased 5 movies and rented about 4 more...cheaper and faster than Blockbuster...no commitment to service like Netflix either. Not a bad service to have when you feel like watching a movie on a whim.

Do I buy movies from the PS Store? Absolutely not. Not once, and not ever. I don't rent them, either. I hate renting movies (and games, for that matter).

If I want a movie I buy it on Blu-ray.

I have roughly 10 movies and 30 TV episodes from PSN. They're especially great for popping onto my PSP for long trips so my wife has something to keep her entertained while I'm driving.

I've bought/downloaded a couple digital movies for this exact purpose.

Otherwise though I don't really buy movies. We have a netflix subscription and we watch 4-6 movies a month. If we want to watch a movie again we just add it to the queue.

I agree, I think it would be great on the ps3, I buy blu-ray movies all the time at best buy and sometimes when I havn't seen the movie and it ends up being crap! I just take it to moviestop and exchange it for another lol. I would like to just be able to rent the movie from netflix on the ps3.

I'll buy movies sure. but it's gotta be hardcopy. but lately my external hard drive does most of the job for me. i get my movies from friends or my schools servers. yeah.... the quality isn't Blu-Ray but hell.... to me Blu-Ray is for movies you REALLY wanna be special.

so far i only have 3 Blu-Ray's. Dark Knight, Iron Man, and Kingdom of Heaven.

there are a few other movies i wanna get on Blu-Ray, like Sky Crawlers, The Messenger, Watchmen, Transformers, Transformers : Revenge of the Fallen. quite possibly Avatar (as Cameron is hyping the hell out of that movie).

before i finally got my two consoles, i was an avid DVD collector (and yes i still watch them from time to time.) like i own ALL Godzilla movie, all 29 of them (that includes the American one). i freakin' love that giant lizard. i got a lot of other films to say the least..

once you have bought the movie on your account, you can go to "Download list" and re-download the movie anytime.. this way you can delete the movie for extra space, and download again later.. only 1 time pay

I never bought any movies on the PSN. I have thought about renting some, then the movie we want, we can't rent it, so we just go to blockbuster.
