Personally i feel its a waste to buy a movie on the psp when i could just get a dvd and watch it on a larger screen (with better sound), does anybody else feel this way?
I agree, Id rather have a DVD. However I did get FFVII: Advent Children on UMD when it was on sale. I plan on watching it on the plane when I go on vacation. I dont like planes so I needed something to keep my mind off of being sick.
i do, ive got a few: alien, terminator 1 & 2, and black hawk down. also i would like to add that i havent watched one of them yet. probably never will. but i want them, probably for the same reason i have game boxes piled around my computer from years ago (i still have my tribes box on display)
Well i would buy them but where i live New Zealand there harder to find in shops than a needle in a haystack. Also when you do find them its the same few crap ones that nobody wants. The shops never seem to get in any new releases like the mtv ones or the recent release superbad which i really want.
Yes, I have about 10 UMD's in my collection and it's better than lugging around a portable dvd player. Like being on a plane or on a bus. The prices are coming down cause I've seen a few new movies with a $12 price tag.
Guys, Guys, please. I may just be a tech genious or something, but within the first week of getting my psp I was able to get any DVD I owned on it, along with any movie ever made that I dont own, totally free and legally. Why get UMDs? Dont believe me? PM me. Oh, mods, this isnt spamming. I'm not even advertising a thing. Just wanting to help some people out. Oh btw, PSP video 9 SUCKS. I have several good converters and filters I can recomend that are 10X more efficient, fast, and high quality.
PSP UMD movies are ridiculously better than any rip I've done. I picked a few up cause they were inexpensive and was blown away at the increase to PQ and AQ over even the best DVD rips. I pick up the occasional movie, assuming it's something I'm interested and the price is right.
I have Snatch, Shaolin Soccer, and Shawn of the Dead... and that Family Guy thing that came with the Silver.
And yes I also have these movies on DVD.
I like having things just in case.

Thats your opinion. And just so you know I hate Family Guy. So I dont want to own it - it just came with my PSP.
I like having options and being able to just bring my PSP with me on long journeys - no need for a Portable DVD player, or anything like that. The Quality is amazing and the price was well worth it.
Maybe I am not like some of you guys stuck at home in front of your computers and TV all day.
i hear umd movies are going to come on blu ray films. i really like the picture of umd they look pretty good. i only have old tube maybes thats whydeadmeat59
Wrong, Blu Ray movies are going to start coming out with PSP versions on them that you can download to your memory stick. They will not sell with a separate UMD to put in your psp, that would be a HUGE waste.
Those of you who say UMD movies are a waste have no clue what you are talking about, you realize you can put the PSP Slim output to a regular TV, and for those of us who travel and have jobs, or have jobs that take you to crappy company functions - UMD movies are an awesome solution. Also to those who complain about the price of UMD, you are shopping at crap stores because I have yet to pay more than 10 to 12 dollars for either a new or used UMD movie.

You are right on the money. I could maybe see buying a UMD movie at some point but the price needs to be alot lower. I prefer quality HD picture and sound.
When outputed on a HDTV or even a regular tv with the cable available for the PSP slim, the difference between a a rip and a UMD is pretty huge actually

It's still extremely noticeable on the PSP screen.
If you are like me, you can only watch a movie a few times before you get tired of it. Just rent it or buy a dvd. Why waste cash on different versions of the same movie?
