I wish they would, but I doubt it.I do hope they do release some kind of update to make them BC after the PS2 dies.
it's not possible....one of the main reasons the ps3 get's the 'yellow light of death' is because the BC chip burnt out. You cant make a 'patch' for it to work out. They only way is to make the ps2 games through the ps store, which isn't gonna happenXx-Addict-xX
*Cough* Google search.

well not while the PS2 is still being sold etc...if they eventually stop the production of the PS2 i could see PS2 titles coming to the store just like the PS1 titles...they have started that with those collections GOW1&2 and now the Cooper collection etc.
I'm guessing most likely not. Wouldn't be suprised though if the next generation Playstation is BC with PS2 games but not PS3
There is a thread aasking this about twice a week.... the short answer is no, the cell probably can't emulate a PS2 because the architecture is far too different, one or two similarities may open the door to it due to the Cell being pretty good at raw processing but you really have no idea how much CPU power it would require to do this... Probably somewhere in the region of 200Gb of raw data(processed) to yeild just 1Gb of PS2 data as finished data.
You buy a PS3 for PS3 games. I don't understand the cheapiness of people sometimes. The wanted a lower priced PS3 so they got it. But then here we are now they want the chepest price possible but they want high quality plastic like the old models, all the sd card slots. all the four usb slots, touch pannel for on and off, power switch and BC. THE LESS YOU PAY THE LESS YOU GET.

[QUOTE="Zero_resistance"]Unless you paid the price of the 20, 60 or 80 gig with 4 USB ports then you didn't pay for the feature. As for adding the feature in a firmware it's most likely never gonna happen.I hope so. I payed for it, I'm entitled to it.

I did pay for it, I bought a 60 gb on launch day, which not long ago YLOD'ed.(R.I.P)
luckily I had it insured, but they had already taken the 60's off the market, so I could only buy an 80 Gb with 2 USB's (for the same price I might add (an extra 20 gb and no BC is not worth the money I payed.))
No for two reasons:
I think the PS4 would do BC for PS2 games.
mitu123
yes, but would it play ps3 games or would you have to buy infamous/resistance collections? :P

Some people don't like to clutter their room with so much cables and all. It's more convenient to play all your Playstation games on one console. Also playing ps2 games on the PS3 means wireless controler and upscaled games.
