Indie's will provide a lot of new titles and ideas. But do you think The big publishers including Sony will make more games like The Order, Knack and Driveclub?

Heck yeah I'm expecting new IPs. Honestly, I don't want another Uncharted game. On the flip side though I don't mind sequels if you control a new character and the gameplay isn't just copy and pasted with minor tweaks. Watch Dogs looks great but if they come out with Watch Dogs 2 and its the same character in a different city and with the same gameplay (minor tweaks) then I most likely won't even bother. Uncharted 2 was awesome, Uncharted 3...not so much (except for Multiplayer).

I think that we will see some new IPs, but I think we will be seeing a lot more sequels.

sony has shown that they are willing to sprinkle non-sequels throughout a generation, but most other big publishers consider the beginning of a generation to be the time to release new games. maybe cynically, the beginning of a generation is favored for non-sequels because of how easy it becomes to make more sequels out of it. the engine, lore, models, and more can be refurbished and reused throughout the generation. so there will be a lot of new games from big publishers early on, but i would expect about the same number overall.

Yes, they need to. And this time they have no excuses, demand for next gen is very high. They can take the risk.

I see NaughtDog doing a new ip, esp when you look at their history but you never know they may cop out and make another Uncharted but i believe a triolgy is enough for any game.

I'm hoping and expecting sony to show up with brand new ip's just like with the ps2/ps3.

I really hope they leave assasins creed only now 2 was enough and now were onto 4 seriously it's the same gameplay throughout nothing ever changes.

Yeah I assume so. I feel that is where the gaming industry is going. Towards making new ip's.

Sony's always releasing new things, and the best part is they can also bring back some classic PS2/PS1 era games that have not seen a PS3 sequel.

I think Sony will come out with a good library of new IP's.  They've certainly done that for the last two generations.  There are a few other publishers who will as well, you just have to look at their past history to see who will and who won't.  Mostly though, the way gamers are today, unless it's a console exclusive and therefore has that exclusive hype behind it, it's not going to sell well.  People don't play new IP's any more these days.  Just look at the sales figures.  Well soon be drowning in a sea of sequels to franchises that got old 5 years ago.

Yes. I expect quite a few new IPs. It's the main reason why I prefer the Playstation brand. I expect Sony to continue their trend of releaseding new IP and securing deals with 3rd parties/indies. I also expect they'll try to reboot a few titles, which I hope they do with Jet Moto.

Tomorrow's sequel is todays fresh new idea. If the big studios think they're good riding their old ideas long term, they're destined to flounder. If game makers are allowed to take risks and aren't burdened with far too lofty expectations, we'll see some great games once again. The great hope with indies is that we're not expecting our 'summer blockbuster' type experience from them. All we want is something new. The big studios should emulate this line of thinking, sometimes less is more.

I do hope a lot on new IP's are created in the 8th Generation of Videogames. Hopefully the ratio will be 70% new IP'S that have not been seen before. And 30% of Sequels

But it is more like the reverse. The 8th generation will begin in November 2013. So with the new hardware should inspire game developers to create new games, Fresh IP's Sony has at least 3 with Knack, The order 1866, DriveClub plus multiplatforn new IPS. Which the best version should be the PS4 version.

So hopefully the 8th Generation will bring new IPS on the PS4. which should lead the way.

Big titles will rarely be new IP's while Indies will explode with new IP's. Every gen games are more expensive so the risk gets higher, companies want some form of gurantee when spending that much money.
