I truly always thought that people always went to Single Player first to get the controls down and everything, but I have been reading things and some post here and there from people, and it got me wondering, what do you play first?

If you couldn't guess, I play single player first, then I try to beat the game then go to multi-player, but sometimes I end up stopping single player half way through and going to multi-player

Single. I only buy games for he campaign. MP is nothing more than a bonus. In some games you get much better bonuses than others.

Most games I play don't even have multi-player but if it does I definitely try single-player first.

I get a new game, I want to relax and enjoy the single player. After a few missons/chapters I'll try out the multi player.

Single player for me, I do play online but that's only when I'm completely satisfied with campaign experience. That could mean another play-through, or three.

Generally, I prefer single player gaming anyway.

I always try and finish the campaign before I touch MP since SP is the main draw of games for me. The one time I made an exception, I made the mistake of getting into the MP for MW2 after I finished only half the campaign and couldn't get back into it. It was my first CoD game so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about with the MP :P

Ido single player first unless it's one of those games where i might get left behind on the MP. Also i like to see the level as it should be before they turn it into a MP map, i hope you get what i mean when i say that.

I always do single player first, but depending on the game I don't necessarily beat the whole thing before going mp (i think I only made it half way through bad company 2 sp...).

Always been a single player then multiplayer. It's got nothing to do with getting the hang of controls. I mainly play games for a single player campaign

Samehere, i enjoy playing single player, then to listen to 12 yr olds act like the are hardcore and vice versa with grown ups in mp.

I pretty much never play the multi-player on any of my games. I'm all about the story and that jazz.

Only game this generation I've actually played online was when Blazblue came out.:?

Oh, I've learned the hard way to always go for single player. The way the online communities have become, multiplayer games have become. As I've grown older, I've become more and more for the personal experience more than anything. I do like fighting games, but preferred "controller to controller" instead of "online". Lag really does get in the way and ruins the experience. (aside from the actual "stupid people" crap)

MultiPlayer is a last-thing... I usually only buy games when they've hit hte $20us or less line, so MP is usually dead in most of the games I own. And, I could care less. I like games like "Singularity", where the MP was a complete tack-on so no one ever bothers. "Wolfenstein"? Great game, never even knew there was online!

MP focus has ruined many, many titles in this gen's gaming.

Almost always single player. BFBC2 was an exception. I played several missions and then tons of multiplayer before finally finishing the campaign.

I always go through the single player first. Always.

It's a great training mechanism for your online experience, you get the movements down with the gunplay and everything. Plus, generally the storyline and overall campaign experiences are usually great, provided it's a big AAA title or exclusive. Uncharted 2 for example, how on EARTH could you skip the single player and go to MP on that game?? Ludicrous.

For shooters, MP; for everything else, SP. In fact, shooter-based MP is the only kind that I play.

Single player. I look at the multiplayer as an added bonus that I most likely won't play anyway because I'm a lot more interested in getting started on the single player campaign of my next game.

Virtually always single player. I have to admit though, I put about 10-15 hours into Black Ops multi before I started the single campaign.

Single player is what I always go to first. Then I'll do co-op play on the harder settings online.
