First off, ignoring the DX levels, would Crysis on max graphics and resolution be able to run on the PS3, or would the PS3 be too weak for the game?

NO FANBOY ANSWERS GOING "OMG PS3 CAN RUNZ ANYTHINGZLOLOLOLOL"

And how about including DX levels (DX10 required)

Serious answers plz

No way. If the 8800GTX is more powerful than the PS3 ( which it is from what I know ) and that cant even run DirectX10, everything high smooth.

Exactly, Crysis maxed out is a bit too much for the current generation of hardware.

dont even get what the big deal of crysis is, the graphics dont even look too good, and I have seen them on max... Maby its just a really big game, or something, but I dont see why PS3 cant run it if the ps3 suppose to last 10 full years...Also killzone2 is going to have the best graphics and that is running on ps3..

max ? define max ? 1080p with highest textures ? of course not , consoles don't have enough RAM to store that data. But at 720p or using that upscaling trick, medium textures, lower draw distance and ect. Crysis can be done on consoles , but that would take allot of time and money witch is not forth the effort. Dev's would need to make some kind of streaming system to keep those big environment's and ect.

Crysis was designed in a retarded manner. Instead of texture streaming they have all models fully textured all the time, which eats up so much RAM right there it's ridiculous. If Crysis was designed from the ground up using streaming textures and tweaked stuff we might have seen it on PS3 but not the way the game was built currently.

Dude I agree with you 100%. Game doesn't even look all that great even in max settings. I was EXTREMELY dissapointed. The game itself sucked bad also.

What he said. On a side note, I'm anxious to see what Killzone 2 will look like once they input their texture streaming system.

True that. It's one of the best looking games but I prefer COD4 and what I've seen from MGS4 on the PS3. a 1200$ rig is just not worth it to play the couple games it requires.

We could see a game that looks NICER than Crysis on consoles someday, but Crysis won't run as it is on PS3 ... its graphics just eats your hardware from RAMs to your Video Card and you barely get above 30fps

but I have read long ago that the team behind Crysis is interested in creating a game for the PS3 .. lets see what the days will bring to us

No, Hell no, there isn't a PC out right now that can run it at max with decent fps.

Maxishine's dual 8800 Ultra system can max the game fully at 1280x1024 with an average of something like 32 FPS.

And as for the PS3 there is no way it could be done if they ported crysis to the ps3 it would probolly look just like if the game was on low/medium settings. Crysis was build on for the PC its the only gaming system that can run the game like it should, I've got a quad core CPU, 4GB of ram and an 8800GT and I canplay this game with a few settings on very high and a few on high with no AA and it runs really smooth.

Still though it'll be at least another console generation until crysis can be ported proply take half life the orange box for example half life 2 has a few frame rate problems with the PS3 verson and half life 2 is a 3 (allmost 4) year old game.

thats something to think about

Crysis wasn't developed with cross-platform in mind. There's just no way the PS3 or 360 are ever going to run Crysis.

Uncharted uses 30% of the ps3 so im going to bet that under full power the ps3 will do it in its sleep, understand the possibility of the full potential of the routines the cell is capable of if utilised fully. If they made it look better than uncharted then ,its close enough dont ya think.

True, I expected more from Crysis, it does look good...but at least for me it isn't that groundbreaking...That aside, Ive got a 8800GTS, so NO, THERE IS NO WAY THE PS3 can do that.

As much as I like consoles, Im a PC gamer at heart, there ain't nothing as precise as a razer mouse and keyboard, and a high end pc.

Just compare the graphics on the multiplatform games, Jericho on PC looks better than PS3, Gears of War looks better on PC than on XBOX 360.

Don't get me wrong, consoles are a lot of fun, but it is funny how many people think a ps3 or a 360 can compete with a pc. There is a reason why Gamer High End hardware is expensive, consoles are for the mainstream, there is also hardware for the common people.

720p 1080p, means nothing against a PC, because since the beginning of consoles thats the main difference, the PC is limited only by the resolution of the monitor, cos if you have the juice, you can crank up to incredible resolutions, a console asi it is right now, can't.

1280 x 720 (720p), pales in comparision to 1920 x 1200.

You may be thinking "but when developers get the hang of making games for...(inssert console namehere)..., well, when that time comes there is going to be a brand new videocard that can do better than the console...thats how it is....no way around it.

I don't think, I know it won't. One reason is hardware limitations. The other is that it's not coming to the PS3.

Crysis (PC) on max setttings would not be able to run on the PS3. Crysis was unable to run on my computer even at max settings, and my computer (the tower alone) was worth about 4x more than the PS3 when bought ($600) a few years ago Nowadays, my computer is considered somewhat old (2005), but I don't think even the PS3 can compete with the Nvidia 256 MB 7800 GTX Card, Intel Pentium D CPU 3.00 GHZ, 4 GB RAM, Windows Vista, etc. even today.

I am one of the people who think Crysis can be done on consoles, however, some concessions have to be made as consoles just don't have the graphical power of PCs. So there is no way that Crysis would run maxed out on PS3.

Crysis will never run on curent gen consoles... it can't run with above 30 fps on max even on my PC which is still a quite good gameing PC i think (9800gx2,E8600,8 gigs ram). Its a boring game anyway imo.

Oh and one thing that really pisses me off even tho kz2 is the better game and i play it all the time... enough BS that kz2 has better graphics then crysis, thats just retarded.KZ2 is the better game and maybe (just maybe) console graphic king but it doesnt even come close to Crysis if we'r gonna talk about grahpics alone,no game does.Enough fanboyism.

In console gaming, limitations come from the hardware. In PC gaming, limitations come from $$$.
