do you need disc to play online?

I play socom controntation online,lets say my disc is scratch and it stop working while playing online, does it matter once the game is loaded for online games?

I didnt know there a install option for ps3, would you still install a game if you playing online only?

I think it still needs to load game data and confirmation. You might get away with it during gameplay, but once the match ends you'll probably run into an error with the disk out.

I am pretty sure COnfrontation confrontation added an option to download the game off of the PSN but of course you would have to pay for that. It would have made sense to give you a code to DL it if you wanted too since you bought it though. But you do need the disc to play it no matter what if thats the version you have. The load on was just for quicker loading in the game
