Just curious. I have GOW3, Red Dead Redemption, MW2, KZ3, BFBC2. The fan only gets loud for GOW3 and RDR. It's a 40Gb and about 4 monhs ago, it was repaired at a legit technician shop for the lens and the thermal paste or something. I don't really play my FPS games anymore. It's just all the same, to me. How long do you play a game while the fan is going crazy? IF it's going crazy (Sounds like a hairdryer, vacuum, etc.) Does it stop while you're still playing or does it stop when you go back to the PS Menu?

I know there might be forums on this. If you have links to those, that'd be nice. :)

None of my PS3's really had a loud fan. But then I dont leave mine on a carpet to over heat or have it in a confined space either. Which will kill your PS3 fast.

My advice is to buy a normal desk or house fan and direct it at your PS3. It helps keep the heat down quite well surprisingly,

My PS3 is so quite, I remember when my friend with a 360 came over and first played a PS3, he was like "what the hell......are your fans broke or something?"

My fans go crazy on me even when I don't play. Sometimes it's hard to be so popular.

My fan on my fat PS3 does get loud but it doesn't bother me since I usually have the sound turned right up. I have my PS3 in a well ventilated area anyway.

I don't think I've ever heard my slim PS3 get "louder," regardless of the game I'm playing. I'm starting to think that maybe only the original PlayStation 3 is plagued with this problem.

Yeah my older PS3 was a noisy beast, but eventually it died. Not sure if the noise was related to be honest. But now you guys mention it, I've never heard my PS3 make a noise and it's on most of the time. My 360 however can also be quite loud.
