I prefer Single Player because the games I play and enjoy the most are JRPGs, however games like CoD, PES and such have to be played in MP

THis. Depends on the game and what its made for. If mulitiplayer is what the game is advertised for then I would prefer multiplayer. if it was made for a single player experience then the SP would be preferred. I really don't get the idea of "not liking/hating/trolling" a game because it does/does not have multiplayer.

Depends on the game. Games like UnCharted 3 and AC Brotherhood shouldnt need MP. They should scrap the MP and add more to the SP experience. That is just my opinion.

Multiplayer definitely. In fact, it's really all I play unless I'm playing Civilization 5 (too impatient to wait for people to end turns).

While I'd certainly agree with you when Drake's fortune and ACII were released , the MP of both's sequels turned out to be great!but yeah it's not entirely needed.

On topic i prefer the SP , I enjoy some story and the variation found there.

Agreed, because I like to play the game first by my slef, so I can enjoy it. Then if it's mulitplayer I will play it only if it's worth it to me.

It mostly depends on the game, but in general, I'd have to say single player, since I might buy a game even if it doesn't have online, but I've never bought a multiplayer-only game (thought Fat Princess might soon become an exception - I've been wanting to get it for quite some time now but I keep hearing how the community is dead). I mean, my most anticipated game release for 2011 is a single player-only game, which is Skyrim.

Definitely single player. The only exception I guess would be certain games with split screen single player, like me and my friends how we used to gather around and play Combat Evolved or Burnout together. Ghost Recon 2 was a lot of fun in split screen as well. Online multiplayer these days is just mostly garbage. Local MP and single player is where it's AT. So in that respect, it's actually kind of hard to choose...

Definitely single player, because the trophies are easier to get, some games like Resistance 3, Twisted Metal will deserve to be played online though.

I totally agree with you, the multiplayers for those games are good but nothing compared to the games' singleplayer. They should take out the multiplayer and add some co-op stuff. my opinion.

single player only. in fact one of the things i look for online when i consider buying a game is making sure it has little if any online content, the less online content/multiplayer/ect, the more likely i am to buy the game.

It depends on the genre. FPS, I would like a good SP but the MP needs to be pretty good aswell. For basically anything else I care more about SP.

Single player, by a margin of about a million miles. Multiplayer is full of horrible children who can't get any fun out of a game unless they're ruining it for everyone else. Single player has a story, characters, a progression from beginning to middle to end, everything that makes a game a game.

I remember somebody else on this forum saying - The day single player games die, is the day I quit gaming.

That sums up my stance on this topic.

Well, as everyone basically said, it really depends on the game. I bought MW2 for the mp, and actually ended up liking the sp quite a bit. Games like AC2 and Brotherhood I got for the sp. Sports games are also big mp games for me. I'd say the majority of my gameplay time is spent in sp unless it's really great mp such as B:BC2, KZ2 (before everyone got rocket/grenade launchers), and COD games (though I do find the COD sp experience to be a bit better at times than the mp). So overall I'd say I get games for the sp, especially if it's a long sp (i.e. AC series, Bioshock 1/2, ME2) or one that keeps you coming back for more.

ShangTsung17

well that's rather single minded. MP is basically a standard now, so having a game without it isn't that common. Sure, I think it's rather useless to have mp in Dead Space 2, Red Faction Guerrilla, and a few others but it doesn't disuade me from getting a game of the sp is still good. That's why I'm going to get Crysis 2 eventually, the mp really doesn't look appealing to me, but the sp looks pretty neat. Though, I really hope Deus Ex: Human Revolution doesn't have mp, that would just be horrible and most likely be really unbalanced. IDK what happened with Homefront and its 4 hour sp, but I doubt that was the fault of the mp, especially since they were hyping the sp for so long it seems like they intentionally made it so short.
