I got a Wii in 2007, an Xbox 360 in 2010, and PS3 in 2013.

I played a number of PS3 exclusives including Uncharted 1-3 and Last of Us. Love them. There's a long while to go until the PS4 has enough titles to appeal to me, but right now the PS3 is competing against 3DS and Wii U for my attention.

Also, it's likely that most of the PS3 games will be ported to PS3, physically and digitally, making me feel like I could have gotten a PS4. I don't regret getting the PS3. I regret not getting it sooner.

What about you?

Hell no. I got a PS3 at the end of 2008 and enjoyed it in its prime. I don't see the PS4 ever being truly backwards compatible, so I wouldn't worry about having purchased a PS3 so late. There are so many great games in its library for newcomers to enjoy.

I'm not saying PS4 will be backwards compatible. But it will play old games. You don't have to look too far.

Look at PS3. Jak, Prince of Persia, God of War, Silent Hill. So many collections are ported over in HD. If I want PS2 games like Okami and San Andreas, I can buy them digitally. I can even get PS2 games on there.

In time PS4 will have PS1/2/3/4. And its like why get a PS3 so late in the gen.

@drekula2:

I highly doubt the ps4 will have all the ps3 games available to download. The ps3 had a very small library of ps2 classics and they cost $10. The ps4 should have more but lets not forget that digital games on psn tend to be overpriced. Sure they have their deals on ps+ and flashsales but buying physical discs tend to be the best option. With ps now, i doubt they would sell ps3 games much cheaper. PS now is expensive. Do you think ps will give great deals on ps3 games on ps4?

i used it as a blu ray player until I got a blu ray drive installed on my pc.

after that it was used to prop open the back door as it kept slamming shut

now its a Netflix machine my mum and dad use.

I got it at late in its lifespan so it didn't cost much...I got my monies worth out of it.

Once the announcement of a new console in 2013 was made I purchased my PS3 Slim, saved me about $150 US dollars, then spent 80 US dollars and upgraded the miserable 160 GB HDD for a 500 GB HDD, prices on PS3 earlier titles dropped dramatically both new and pre owned, newer title prices have also dropped lately, my collection of PS3 titles is around 50 all of which cost me less than 30 US, most cost me 20 US. I don´t want my PS3 for PS2 titles, the library of PS2 titles in PS3 is quite low, I have my PS2 for PS2 games since the library of free PS2 ISOS is huge, all I do is download the ISO, transfer it to my PS2 HDD and play it, when I´m done with the game I just delete it and insert a new ISO ( you´ll need free McBooth in a memory card to play downloaded ISOs ). No, I´m not regretting purchasing my PS3.

I don't regret my slim ps3 purchase one bit. The PS3 may have started a bit slow but the amount and quality of the games was really awesome in the mid and late life cycle. I have 61 discs, 49 digital purchases and 21 PS+ instant games (huge backlog). I also would later buy a 2nd super slim PS3. If I compare my purchased game prices to past generations, it is actually much cheaper than the ps2 and earlier generations. I rarely ever spend over $40 on a game. With ps+ deals, amazon/gamestop (once in a while) and ebay, you really get plenty for your buck and you always have the option to sell. Really good prices, nice quality and a lot of quantity? Very happy with the ps3 generation...... My only gripe with the ps3 is that they should have had more PS Move games out because it really works well and the small list of games are fun but that has more to do with game developers not wanting to go after a smaller PS Move market. What is the PS4 camera for?

I love my PS3 but honestly, I regret buying any console because games don't last me too long. I later find something I could have spent my money on later.

Regret? In no way at all do I regret it.

I've loved my PS3 since day 1, besides the couple of times I had to go without one after the YLOD.

All the NHL's I've played, Uncharted series, inFAMOUS series, Heavy Rain, The Last of Us, FFX Remaster, Shadow of the Colossus HD, Mass Effect series, GTA, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid 4, Borderlands series, Killzone series, Journey, Okami and many more. I've had a ton of play time on my PS3 and loved every minute on it.

Excuse me, PS3 is a proven system. PS4 is not. The question is do you regret getting a PS4? And I don't but at the same time often wonder if I need it right now. PS3 has a lot of wonderful shit to play on. PS4 doesn't yet. Uncharted 4 isn't even out dawg.

I said I don't regret getting it. But I do regret not getting it sooner. As I won't have as much time to enjoy it once this current gen starts to unfold.

I actually advise people to get the PS4 next year. Because I don't want them to wait till a year before the gen ends to get it and then regret not getting it sooner.

Last time I checked, around 2006 and 2007, the PS2 had a much bigger library than the PS3.

No I don't regret buying Playstation 3. I originally bought a PS3 40GB console. Then I found a then fabled PS3 60Gigger so I sold my 40Gigger. Then the slim launched so I bought the 120GB launch model, Later upgraded to the 320GB sold the 120Gigger. And finally bought the 250GB superslim model. Also bought the epic Spouse another 60GB PS3.

So I have a Playstation 3 Phat, Slim and Superslim console. finally to top it off. I was given an additional Playstation 3 20GB console for free by a friend who left to live in the U.K. and didn't want to take the console.

I have 160 PS3 games so I don't regret the PS3 years at all.

Nope one of the better consoles i have purchased and with no problems Ever. All though i have given my PS3 to my older brother which i do with all my stuff when i get new like my old Pc in past just because i am nice and not got enough room for all lot of them. Only problem i had with the PS3 was the controller too small but with the PS4 its improved loads and is slightly bigger and better fit.

My PS3 is still going strong. I have no intention of getting a PS4 anytime soon as PS3 Advanced Warfare/Borderlands Pre Sequel will keep me busy for another 6 months to a year.

Nope, I had the Wii and the PS3 last get (I wish I had gotten the 360). I love the PS3 and still play it. It has some of the best games I ever played on it.
