I never rent games. I always research and make sure (the best I can) that I want a game, then buy it. I also never trade in any games. You never know when your gunna be in the mood to go back and play an older game, ya know? Now I have a dilema... theres too many good games out and I want them all! aw man I'm gunna go broke.

I tend to do a mix of all three. There are games that I want and will buy, others I will trade in and get new games once I'm done or bored with the game (try to catch trade deals), renting is fine with me depending on the game, some games you want to play but just aren't worth $60. And I feel your pain, there are a lot of good games about to come out on top of the ones that were just released over the holiday, damn it

I always buy. Only new games, though. I never buy used games. I only buy used if it's a game for a console from previous generations. I rarely trade or sell my games these days. My game collection is getting quite big now. I think it would be worth quite a lot (nowhere near as much as I paid for it though, lol).

It's just been buying so far, but sooner or later I'm going to start renting like the old days with the PS1. :)

I can't rent because there are no video stores with PS3 games near me.

So I only buy and trade (if it calls for it). I always research games I'm interested in though. Especially new IPs (either new, or I'm new to).

Always make my buys count. If there are games I wouldn't consider high in priority (worth the $60~$70), I wait till they drop in price and buy them used.

Same here. I get PS3 games new, and go on Amazon and get PS2 games used.

I only buy games, and only new --as in not used-- games. Except for games from older generations; those I usually have no choice but to buy used.

I don't sell, nor do I trade. Foolish decisions quite a few years ago have cost me a lot of money over the years to replace games I stupidly sold that I shouldn't have, so no more of that.;)

Sgt_Phan

This. I usually wait until a game drops to $20 or $30 and buy it. Any games I decide I don't want, I sell on ebay. The buyers pay more than gamestop would give and still get it for cheaper than gamestop would sell it for, so everyone is a winner.

I rent and I buy, but I only rent if I'm unsure about whether or not I want the game. I rent it first, play it for a while, then if I REALLY want the game, then I buy it.

I buy games depending on reviews and preference. If a game was to have a very short campaign and very little re-play value i wouldn't buy it, and i sometimes rent games.

I only buy. If I'm not sure of a game and I can wait long enough I buy it used from GameStop. They give full refunds within the first 7 days of your purchase, so its like renting for free.

If it has a quality multi player to accompany the single player campaign then I consider buying. Games like dead space, assassins creed, and prince of Persia which are only single player i rent via gamefly. I am off an on with the membership, I blaze through a number of games I am interested in for a few months. Then I cancell the membership and go back to games like COD, Killzone 2, or grand theft auto for their multi-player while I wait for more releases of interest. I will probebly sign back up when GOW III comes out. As that game as well as a handfull of others I would like to play though but not buy, others on the list include: infamous, batman: AA, Assassins creed II, Dante's Inferno, and sabotuer to name a few. Games I will buy in the next year are UC 2 and GT5.

i'll always buy unless i feel suspect about a game so instead of taking a 65$ loss i'll see if one of my friends has it so i can test it out for free.

I will rent all games, test the waters a bit, except in Demon's Souls case, which I had to buy because the game always was rented out. Good buy though. I traded in all my old games, because truly they were doing nothing but collecting dust. Got enough to buy Demon's Souls, and a used GOTY Oblivion, and Pre-Ordered GOW3 which sets me good for a while. It was my first trade-in and I felt confident in my decision, and even more now that I have had so much fun with the games I got. I will definitely rent before buying most games though, and trade-in games that I don't play. Which I believe is quite a logical method.

I do it all. I'm constantly buying games, selling them on eBay, renting from Gamefly, trading at this local shop called The Exchange, buying from The Exchange, Going to Gamestop for midnight releases... etc.

Last year I traded, can't remember that last time I rented though. This year I'm going to work on my collection and aim not to trade a single game in. I wont be able to do what I usually do, which is buy games on release without fail, this year I'm going to have to save up and be more careful what I buy. It will be interesting

I always buy. Though games I don't like get traded in, or after a few years of owning them get traded in. The only other scenario would be if I completed the game to a maximum, like inFAMOUS, so I trade that in.

So far bought some games, and have begun trading in for games though I plan to start renting soon. 2 games that I have I don't plan on keeping. Trade ins for GoW3 and FF13 since I want to keep the former as a permanent buy and the latter will take me a while to get through, so I won't rent it. Unless a game I desperately want comes by, I won't buy.Especially with no means of multiplayer (for now). UC2 and GOW3 being the only exceptions so far, those are just keepers.

So you have two games for the PS3, one of them Uncharted 2. And you plan on trading them in? You don't like the feeling of actually having a game near you to keep you warm?

Never sold a game myself. Though I buy some used games but usually only if I can't get it new. And I rent some games but only if I got no money to buy the game right now. Like Assassin's Creed 2 right now. Rented it but I will definitely pick it up later on.

The developer and publisher never see any of the money. I personally buy my games. I tend to only buy games on day one, if I really really want them, the rest I pick up later for cheap. I never trade in games anymore, have like 60 PS3 games (I used to trade in games all the time prior to getting my PS3)

I only buy and I never trade. I like having games in my collection and I like having the ability to replay games at any time and play multiple games at any given time so I never rent. The only time I have EVER traded games was when I traded in my N64 and all my games for it and got my PS2, and the only reason I traded in the games is because I had no means to play them or else I would have held onto them. I still have all my PS2 games, Xbox games, GC games, and all my old GB/GBC/GBA games. I might trade in my old copies of FFX and X-2 though since I bought brand new copies of both because they were scratched up and maybe trade my copy of GoW since I got the Collection. Since I'll still be able to play the games I might trade those 3 in. Other than that I have no intention on ever trading in games.

I never rent or trade in either. I just do my research. I check Metacritic and GameRankings for the average scores, I watch video reviews on GameTrailers and IGN, and I read written reviews on Eurogamer. I also have a watchlist on GamesTracker.com so that I buy every game as cheaply as possible.

I buy games. Never rent. I always make sure that I really want the game. I think there has only been 2 instances where I ended up trading them to GameStop because the controls were absolutely terrible. I usually don't trade either unless it is a must have basis. I usually end up selling my games before I'll trade them.

I never rent games, and I never trade them in. If there's a game I want, I buy it. If I really wanta game, I aim to buyit game on release (depends on how much money I have), but what mostly happens is that I let it drop in price to €30 or under.
I also NEVER buy platinum or greatist hits games (can't stand them :P). I always have to get the original, so that usually means buying the game pre-owned from a local game shop or from amazon.

UC2 I'm keeping. Got more than 2 games by the way, never said I only have 2. But so far none appeal to me enough to keep permanently aside from Uncharted 2. I'm going to play UC1 once more for the sake of the story then trade it in. Once I have like 5 games I plan on keeping permanently, I'll stop trading in, continue renting, and buying anything I'd want to keep. Reason I'm doing this is because I only just got the PS3 like a month ago. Both a great and horrible thing there are so many games I want to catch up on. That's why I'm going to rent and play though as quickly as possible. 2010's a busy year in itself.

I only buy, but most of those are used games either at retail or over ebay.
