Do you thing Sony doesn't care about current PS3 owners?

In my opinion it was too soon to redesign the form of the current soon to be phase out PS3. The original PS2 took 4 years and the PS3 have not been in the market for at least 3 years. I understand that by redesigning it, promoting it more and by lowering the price more consoles will be sold and more and better games will arrive, i know this is good and all but come on why change the PLAYSTATION 3 logo to PS3 even the colored P in the front, now the the system start you see a different logo and by looking at the picture of the new Japanese gundam slim bundle you can tell that the are going to redesign even game boxes. Maybe they are even going to change the logo that appears before staring to play each game.

Again in my opinion it was too soon, everyone with one of the current PS3's without BC will feel sooner or later like that they have a old and less modern model, the PS2 Slim arrived after more than 60 millions consoles were sold, only like 24 millions of gamers have the current model. The worse part is that it will arrive like two weeks after the announcement it may even take less time to arrive in stores and if we try to sell it people will think the console is inferior and want it almost free like trash the same for GameStop which will now give like $100.00 in trade-in.

They changed the logo and design. Big deal. It's still a PS3 and there are many more people that will buy the system now. I don't see what's wrong with change if it means more sales.

if you wanted a PS3 with B/C you shouldve bought a PS3 almost about 2 years ago, probably the MGS4 bundle.....but oh well...too bad...thats all i can say to you, moving on well i think they did it a little too early...but they still did it and it turned out pretty good

Either that, or he's complaining that how new and fashionable looking a console is is more important than the games and capabilities.

I agree the slim LOOKS cool, but in my opinion, it also looks CHEAP compared to the PS3. But either way, they have all the same features, play the same games, etc. So what is the problem. A lot of whiners here since what SHOULD have been a very positive announcement.

We are quite happy theat Sony is bringing out the PS3 SLim. We will buy it, so that both the mighty Helen and I each have a PS3.

Seriously if Sony came out and said no more updates for the Fat I'd be a little sympathetic. Smart people bought the PS3 and knew what it had and what it didn't have (BC) you don't want a PS3 without BC then don't buy one. If you bought a PS3 without BC what exactly is there to complain about?

I couldnt really care less, Sony released a slimmer PS3 with a different logo. It dosnt make any difference to your own gaming experience, you still have the same console, consider yourself a real PS3 fan if you have the older model rather than the folk running out to buy a Slim for the 'fashion' ?queen_vee

Sony's trying to make the PS3 more affordable to more people. There's nothing wrong with that.

Hopefully it'll bring a bigger market and more support. That is something I'm "all for" when it comes to PS3.

They did what they had to do. In order for them to catch and pass the 360 they needed to cut the costs of the system. The redesign is exactly what they needed. Too many people have had a bias toward sony since the PS3 came out and now they have nothing to complain about. This does not affect current PS3 owners. We got the system early on because of the value we believed it gave us. Do I regret spending 600 on my 60GB PS3? Not at all. If some one regrets not having the slim trade in your fat PS3 and get one or just buy it. This is a business and success will determine the next gen of systems. I will pick up the Slim in due time to add one more system to my living room.

To me, it sounds like Sony is getting serious.

The slim enables sony to make a profit again with parts now being cheaper it only costs them 250 to make it. I can't believe people are still whining about BC. If you are playing PS2 games more than 3 then there is no reason for you to get the system. Here is the hint, when buying a new system you should look forward to playing the new games on that system. They had BC and no wanted the PS3 then so there you go. You made your bed. With the exception of BC the people that bought the other models and the people buying the slim are getting the same thing the launch models owners have at a much lower cost. The BC isn't perfect even in the 60GB model. you new owners complain that it isn't fair that you don't have BC. Well it's not fair that the launch owners paid a certain only to have it drop 200 dollars after year 1 and then another hundred another year and a half later. It's not fair I paid $600 while others paid 400 a year later. Hey I made the choice to get the system early and now I live with that decision.

Everyone else waited and so now you have to live with your decision. Everyone who bought the PS3 a year later new they were taking BC out but bought the 40 GB anyway. Maybe if people would have saved up the money to meet the price instead of waiting for it to come down, Sony might have seen that BC was popular and it might have stuck.

But people waited instead because it was "too expensive." Waiting for the price to lower is the same thing as saying you don't care about certain features it offers.

Sony might not have always made the right decision but the consumer also has to look at what the system does and make an educated decision. You can't expect to buy a premium console at 300 or less. You have to be willing to pay the extra price or give up something to get the main functions of the console. The problem is everybody wants a bad a** system for $10 and it isn't happening. "you get what you pay for" rings true with electronics.

If the logo on the software boxes bothers you so much, just get rid of all your old games....problem solved.

he is right you know. Especially those people who think useful PS3's have to have BC. Because in order to play PS3 games you need to be able to play PS2 games.
