It depends if you have mates round often and what type of games you lot play as a group. I own 4 controllers mainly so we can play 2v2 in Pro/fifa and I got them all to play COD4, 4 player splitscreen. There arent that many games out there that support 4-player, really need a 4 player splitscreen FPS where you can put in bots.

Depends on if you have a lot of people playing the PS3, I do fine with one controlle.

4 controllers for a Wii is a must, *Wii Sports, Red Steel, Super Smash, etc.* I have only 2 ps3 controllers which is good enough.

Unless you have friends or brothers/sisters to play with, I'd say just get what you need. And as far as split screen... I don't think they have many games out for PS3 that support that many players offline. Don't quote me on that one though, not entirely sure. Either way, it sucks having to play a four way split screen anyway, IMO. I'm gonna trade in my Six'ers for some dual shocks personally.

personally, i have only one ps3 sixaxis controller. and on the rare occasion one of my friends wants to play against me(i kick their butts too often), on tekken 5, resistance, demos, mortal kombat 2 etc, ive got a USB dual shock-like controller for the PC which works with the PS3, except the face buttons are in different positions, like circle is X etc. I'm sure it could be rewired to have the right positions... I might buy a dual shock 3 when i see one for a decent price or if theres a game that requires vibration to get the most from it. Ive played COD4 on 4 player split screen but that was with a projector and me and 3 friends brought our controllers with us so theres no need for any of us to own 3 or 4. Motorstorm 2 will have split screen, that should be good, and i expect wipeout hd will have split screen too, but i doubt it will be 4 player.

No. Not at all. Only get two. If you always have company over, then that is too bad. Tell them to get their own system and if they decide on a PS3 they can bring their own controllers.

I don't think so. If you have friends who own PS3s, then tell them to bring their own controllers.

i find it very unlikely for 4 controllers to be worth.. but depends.. cant really help.. you must decide for yourself on the quantity of games that support that and the usage they will get..

I have 3 right now but I hope to get a forth one when LBP comes out. I use to just have 2 controllers but I'm friends with a guy and his brother so when we play Warhawk we would have to take turns. So thats why I got a third one. LBP is gonna be awesome with four people...I just need to figure out who that forth person is gonna be, lol. My sister thinks LBP looks cool so maybe that'll work.

I think it's worth it if you have a bunch of ppl that come over to play on regular basis. Otherwise I'd say no especially with the cost almost equally a full price game. I currently have 3 myself because I bought a second one shortly after picking up my PS3 so I could play split screen warhawk and do RFOM co-op. Then the DS3 came out and I had to get one of those.

Seeing as how devs seem to think splitscreen is for satan worshippers and should be banned, I'd say no.

I have 2 sixaxis, and though I might consider a Dualshock I don't think it would be worth it. The only good 4 player s/screen game coming in near future is Motorstorm, so unless you get that spend you money on Killzone 2 and use bots to fill the maps.

Yes, it's good if you own four controllers, because you can invite three other friends and you all can play on the PS3! Although you would need a lot of money to buy four controllers, so I hope you're rich!

Unless you are going top have more than 2 friends at your house on frequent occasions then I would say two controllers will be enough. I was good with my sixaxis controller until my girl bought me the DS3. Until that happened, my friend always brought over his controller. If you think it will benefit you to have 4 controllers then go make the investment but if not, that money could be better spent on games or anything else.

i got 5 controlles, but casue 2 x sixaxis controllers are damged (right analogue stick problem)... so i use them more like a remote for watching movies...

so i got 3 controllers (1 of them a DS3), which i use for gaming... i think thats enough, nearly all of my friends got a PS3 so someone can always bring an extra controller if needed... (sometimes we have a great laugh playing Fifa08, Smackdown 2008 etc on 3 v 3) :)
