Do you think Sony should focus more on 3D gaming and less on motion control.

I feel that 3D gaming feels more in place with the PS3 vision and overall package than the weird unnamed motion conrtoller. I heard that the project natal on the xbox 360 is expected to be a huge fail (unsuccessful attempt to overthrow the Wii from it's stupid mindless waggely gaming market) that will possibly make the PS3 the strongest competitor of 2010. On the other hand, 3D gaming just feels right on the PS3. Since the beggining of it's lifecycle PS3's slogan and main mission was to play beyond. Bluray player and PSN are big factors key to the succes of the PS3 so far (and killer first party titles of course).

I think that if Sony spends too much efforts and money on a possible unsuccessful motion controller, PS3's oportunity may fade away. And also, if a person is willing to spend 1000+ dlls on a big screen and 300+ on a PS3, it's not difficult to imagine that same person spending a little more on the technology/gadgets necessary to play in 3D.

While 3D gaming maybe turn out to be a huge success, it could also end up as big gimmick, just like the motion controls might, and since i already have the ps eye, i would rather just take a gamble with the $30-60 the ps3 motion wand may cost, instead of like $1000 a 3D TV might cost.

The thing is... well, first, it doesn't even have an official name yet. Second, you would have to buy a motion controller for each player and a PS camera.

It's supposed to launch on Spring 2010... something just doesn't feel right.

No not yet before we only had SDTVs and HDTV's were the the 3DTV's of that time now HDTV's has gone cheaper and currently has as many people as SDTV's use to so its to Early for the 3DTV's so i think in the next gen would be good and it would be the new HDTV of the gen and there will be something new and more expensive maybe 4D or something

Nope. I'm not interested in spending the insane sums of money on a 3D capable television just for a bit of depth perception in the handful of games that would support it. :P

They should focus on the wand thingy first and then 3D. It's easier for Sony to sell the Wand oppose to 3D. If I were to buy into 3D I have to buy a new tv AND a new surround receiver + 1.4v compatible HDMI cables, with the Wand I will only need to buy a bundle with the wand, camera and hopefully some lame mini games (I'm guessing) and I'm guessing Sony knows this.

The CES that just happened a few days ago was full of 3D. In the months to come the market will be bombarded with 3D as the technology advances. In time a lot of people will have a tv that supports 3D. And... well, 3D is amazing! A lot of people said the CES demos (of PS3 games) were jawdropping.

I'll pass on the 3D. I don't feel like stressing my eyes any more than I already have to.

If they could make it so you don't have to buy a new TV for the 3D I'm all for it, but I'd rather not spend the money on a new TV just for 3D gaming.

Just what i was thinking. Its less of a gamble with the wand i reckon, and itll probably sell quicker and help the PS3s casual market too. Make a sort of PS3+Motion Controller+PS Eye+2 Compatible games(one motion control game and one good game, U2 or Infamous will be fine) bundle and itll help little kids buy the PS3.

They should forget both and invest time into getting these games made instead: Eight Days and Syphon Filter.

If they can make it a HDTV can show games in 3D with a firmware update, then WOW! That'll sell heaps of consoles and itll be another great feature of the PS3.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Sony's motion controller (Jem) turns out but I have no interest in 3D visuals.

After playing Avatar in 3D.... I WANT MORE!!! I don't wanna rush 'em though. They have a great motion set up from the looks of it, and I'm sure it'll all be here soon enough and worthy of our $$$.

3D TV's and specifically to built to display 3D, its impossible for a firmware update to change the hardware of a TV.

I don't see why HDTVs can't be updated with FW. They already make Blu-ray players updateable so I don't see what's stopping them from being able to update HDTVs.

I'm not positive but i believe that the 3d image that appears is really produced by the format of the video AND the TV. Have you ever been to a 3d movie and taken off your glasses? If you have you'd no it looks really dizzying and there appears to be more than one image. I think this is how the tv or projector displays the video so a firmware upday wouldn't be able to change the hardware of the TV.

I think Sony should focus on the games, and forget the gimmicks. What they need is the same type of variety in the PS3's library that they did in the PS2's library. So far they've been doing a lagluster job at that. Not to say the PS3's library is bad, but it's lacking when you think about where it should be. It's especially lacking when you compare it to the PS2's library at this same time of it's life.

I agree with this. I'm not going to buy a new tv till I'm done with college. Also there are very limited games to me, these days that I care for so and 3d games will be really lacking. As well as I'm not 5 yrs old and could care less about kids games.

I don't have the money to buy a 3-D TV, so that just doesn't matter to me at all. As far as motion control, I think that's just to try to lure some Wii owners over and we'll probably get one or two "real" games per year that use it.

I just want them to continue coming out with lots of good games for the core gamers, as they have been doing.
