It isn't exactly the most exciting topic but think about sales rocketed when the PSP came out in white and pink.(Gold as well for the japanese). Many people don't like the black and were looking forward to the silver and white versions. So i ask would you want a differnt colour PS3?
It will help generate some sales, but it would also leave some PS3s unbought because of those colors. Say, they released white PS3s, and no one wanted the black ones anymore. Sony would lose money because people wouldn't want to buy the black ones.
when i first saw the PS3 and saw the 3 colors i wanted Silver i dont like black because it gets way too dusty and you get to see it and have to clean constantly.
I don't really think the sales depend on the color... It's more about the price. But you Americans should not be crying about the price, you pay 600US$ for a PS3 60GB. In Sweden (where I live) the PS3 60GB will cost 6500SEK when it releases on March 23rd and that would be around 925US$.
Though for me it doesn't do any difference for me because I have had mine american PS3 in almost 3 month now, and payed a total of 6000SEK (850US$) for the machine, shipping, customs and taxes.

The ps3 is actually selling pretty well considering the lack of games, price etc. Dont keep repeating the FUD mantras. Sony wont really step it up until the second half of this year.

Sony would get more sales if the console cost less. Even the PS2 is outselling the PS3. Microsoft will drop prices this year so I don't know what Sony will do. Wii is selling really well because of the low price.

you have to put in mind that ps3 is much better than other consoles and sony are loosing money with every console! Anyway colours or visuals of the console do not impress me as much as hardware or sofware does. And that is the main focus on the ps3!
It depends. I am sure it would boost some sales, some people like the idea of having different colored systems but I think this would apply mostly to hardcore Sony fanatics. However releasing different console colors, and limited edition consoles is a big thing in Japan.
it would be cool if they made a white 1 not sliver white because white looks nice. like psp the black psp looks good but when u have it next to a white psp u want the white 1.
i think sony should focus on games. i think the lineup is amazing for a console this early in its life span, but others dont seems to think so. gow3 would sell more consoles than releasing a pink ps3.
If you ask me, it is hard to beat that sleek, exotic, and mean look of the black. It gives it that whole"sportscar" sort of appeal, you know what I mean? I do like the Silver consoles as well, though, and I may eventually get one of those later on down the line to set up in another room of my house. To me, the silver gives off a more "futuristic" vibe that is really cool.
Regardless though, the PS3 is just a plain old badass period....so I do not care if it was dog sh!t brown, lol.Well, maybe that is indeed stretching it little bit.:lol: Black and silver FTW.
Absynthetic's comment was exactly why  i started this forum as i saw the figures and extra faceplates were a hot topic. Just so you know i did not start this because i wanted a differnt colour and i do not base my choice on colour but on games and i am in the UK so i don't have one yetÂ
