Honestly, the core game fell short to CoD 4 as far as the story, so I think an 8.5 is appropiate. However, I play the Nazi zombie mode all the time, so I guess that could bump it up to a 9 for me. I thoroughly enjoy the game.
No, not really even though it's a good game with solid multiplayer. World at War was in a bad position because Modern Warfare set such a high standard. World at War is basically Modern Warfare in WWII setting. So the lower score is understandable. And Modern Warfare still is the better game with better maps, even though the new World at War maps looks good. That doesn't mean World at War is a bad game. It's still good but it's like comparing Twilight Princess to Ocarina of Time or Resident Evil 5 to Resident Evil 4. The predecessor just set a high standard so it would be tough to surpass it...except for Modern Warfare 2. But that feels like it'll be a evolution not a revamp.
I rented it a few weeks ago, and based on what I played in that time, I would probable have given it a 8.0-8.5. I didn't play Nazi Zombies though, so that could be one reason why I wouldn't give it a higher score...
they gave modern warfare a 9, and they werent gonna say it is equal to or greater than it so i wouldnt expect them to. I think World at War is underrated cause of all though...

i havent been able to play for 3 weeks now, it keeps kicking me out of matching and giving me a message ' CANNOT FIND FREE CONTENT INDEX' , even after updating it with the recent update. this game needs ZERO OUT OF 10!!! .. lame man for real..damN!
