Do you think the 3rd birthday is that bad?

I am playing it now and I am STUNNED by the graphics. It could be compared to a early ps2 imo. This is my first jump into the series and I think it is really cool. I can see the combat system getting a little dry but nothing too bad. Why does this game get so much hate? People say it was a really big disappointment. Can somebody tell me the games that came before this? I started with this one because if it is the worst one apparently I figured going back would make the old ones even better. What are your complaints about this game?

No but I never played the origonals. I though it was very impressive the 1st play through, I was looking back at it and I dont think its that great now. It was good but its just that amazing

Just wait 'til you watch the ending. It's horrible and ruins the whole story (which wasn't good to begin with, imo). Also, it quickly gets repetitive, and there are some poor design choices like having 1 soldier out of 6 possessing the weapon you need. When that soldier dies, you have to wait 5 minutes before another one with that weapon respawns.

Also, it quickly gets repetitive, and there are some poor design choices like having 1 soldier out of 6 possessing the weapon you need. Kind of. I haven't played the second one, but The 3rd Birthday is not really connected to the first one (story-wise).

Parasite Eve 1 is an RPG with some horror elements, and the battle system uses the ATB gauge (like in the older Final Fantasy games) and is in real-time. It isn't a shooter like The 3rd Birthday.

As a third person shooter, it's great. Heck it could be one of the best shooters on the PSP system. And that's why I like to think of it that way.

As an RPG, there are barely any RPG elements in it. The story could have been better, and more importantly could have been presented much better. That being said, it isn't THAT bad.

As a Parasite Eve (I'm not saying it is, since even its title doesn't have the words "Parasite Eve" in it) it's an abomination.

@serenade. Oh ok thank you for clarifying. If the other ones have a lot more rpg elements then it is understandable that people were upset. I rarely get into rpgsso I will probably just stick to this game. I think it is almost the best it could be for psp controls. There is always room for improvement but there is only so much you can do with one analog stick.

it was boring and depressing. the story made no sense and once you completed it, it gave you more of a dissapointment. the protagonist (Aya) sounds weak and is too fragile to fill up the role of a lead action character. She belongs in dead or alive: paradise than this game. you bump her into a wall, she makes a moaning grunt, and anyone who finds that appealing needs to put down their psp and go out more. You want to play a good 3rd person shooter for the psp? pick up resistance retribution instead.

I like the third Birthday. I have played Parasite Eve. So this is kinda familar. This game is great, can be a tad difficult. This game's presentation is excellent. The controls can be a bit dodgy at times. I like the Storyline. The third Birthday is worth playing. You don't need to have played Parasite eve 1 and 2.So this game is worthwhile (I'm currently stuck at the moment.)

This game is good. I wish the controls werea tad better. 2 analog sticks/nubs would have helped very much.

well I was new to series so can't say I was disappointed (it being square enix didn't really help the case either)
I can say however I thought it to be kinda... meh
I kinda like the combat, it was just way to repetitive.
DNA board was fun tho felt they could do more with it.
the story was absolutely horrible, not even funny horrible.
unintressting characters and a plot with one of the worst narritive i seen since... FF XIII

Of course not. Its just not a parasite eve game, its a stand alone game featuring aya brea and Eve, with great gameplay mechanics and involving atmosphere.

Im interested in it, don't care if it's bad im still getting it! This is next on my list, i usually love games people hate so i will probably love it,glad your enjoying it TC.
