I mean like the iTouch or iPhone? Since it has a touch screen now, it could be an option. The keyboard for the PSP got a bit annoying having to keep moving up and down and scrolling through lists of letters and numbers and symbols.

Without a doubt, i just recently bought a new PSP and using that on the internet is really bad, i've never tried the optional keyboard though. To release a playstation Vita with great graphics, screen, online capabilities etc and then not use a touch screen would just be a crime. Typing what you want using a D pad just takes too long and is too annoying, i'm guessing assuming you weren't playing a game which controls would be needed, you could also turn it on it's side (like ipod) and use the touch screen keyboard and internet that way too.
Personally i want to see great value for money, Vita looks worth it by the price tag right now. But i want to see great value for money in games. Buying a game that only lasts like 5 hours to complete the story (god of war psp) is not cool for me at all. The game itself is great but no value for money in terms of a longer game to last your time/ extra features etc.
No doubt in my mindI mean like the iTouch or iPhone? Since it has a touch screen now, it could be an option. The keyboard for the PSP got a bit annoying having to keep moving up and down and scrolling through lists of letters and numbers and symbols.

I think that the touch detector on the back is not made for typing. Its maybe for tapping to add gameplay experience. Uchiha_Sasuke1Good thing we aren't talking about the touch pad on the back and are talking about the touch screen then huh. ;)

Yeah, I don't like touch screen keyboards that much either, but I think it would be better than the original keyboard. But maybe they could have a full on-screen keyboard that you could scroll through and also touch the letters.
Maybe for a few keys only. I dont think it will have the full qwerty keyboard on . It will be too big to fit, but unless they figure out a way to make it fit.

What? Since when does having a bigger screen make a touch screen keyboard difficult to fit? There will be plenty of space for this and I don't see why they wouldn't have one... especially for browsing the internet.
If you watch the Sony Gamescom conference and pause at 10:00, you will see the keyboard on the screen.

Yes. Go to the front page of Gamespot and click on the Sony Gamescom conference and watch the video. At ten minutes, it will show the keypad on the Vita screen.Since FFXI is coming to the Vita, I would think it has some kind of keyboard to talk to people with.
they better because they have 2 touchscreens (kind of 1 and 1 half) but still it shouldnt be that hard for them to program one
I am sure I saw a screenshot of the Vita having an on-screen keyboard similar to the iPhone.godfather_1Same here, I was just trying to find it.

Are you sure it's exactly at 10:00? I watched about a minute before and a few minutes after, but I'd really rather not watch the whole hour thing.
It's bigger than most smartphone screens. And they put QWERTY thumb boards on those.Maybe for a few keys only. I dont think it will have the full qwerty keyboard on . It will be too big to fit, but unless they figure out a way to make it fit.

Everyone that used my PSP for the first time assumed it was touch screen. I'm not particularly interested in fingerprints all over.david60639I admit that I'm always tempted to touch the screen. It would be so much more natural.
Not reading all the replies to see if you got your answer, but it was CONFIRMED to HAVE a touch screen keyboard in the latest issue of Playstation magazine. They had an 'A to Z' feature about the Vita. ...touch screen keyboard was one of the lettersrawsavon
Oh yeah, I had read that article in Barnes & Noble. I hadn't bought the magazine. I wish I had now.
