Well, the press has already shaken the Magic 8-Ball on this question and the answer was decidedly "No". iD considers the game to have been a disappointment in terms of sales, it met with varying degrees of critical response, there was a pretty substantial screw-up of the PC drivers (which even Carmack admitted publicly as being "a Cluster****", the amount of texture pop-in, and the whole massive-install to try and minimize said pop-in but-only-PC-and-360 goofiness really turned a lot of people off... so the idea of continuing the franchise outside existing DLC for the current game is 99.999% juuuuuust not gonna happen.
:(
This is based on my listenings to various podcasts produced by GS and other sites from the last few months. Some critics were a little harsh, in my opinion... But I'm also a shameless iD Software fanboy.
If I look at the game objectively, some of the criticisms do sort of hold some water, in the sense that iD created the genre and that there are some old-school trappings and feels to "RAGE"... To ME, that's not such a bad thing. there are some folks out there who celebrated the gameplay in "Duke Nukem Forever", and some fans out there who are patiently awaiting the new "Serious Sam" game...
... I personally think we need a new "Time Splitters" - An FPS with a good arcade lean, and no blood, a shooter that's family/ teen friendly. It seems like the reality-shooter market is covered, and the bloody-nasty is about to be covered (forgive the semi-pun), but we don't have any chimps or snowmen toting dual pistols...
Remember the last "Time Splitters"?
:D
Yeah, see? Those of you who played that game, who took it online and made levels to share with the community (some of mine were well-liked), it was amazing-good fun - You're smiling just as big as I am when recalling that game. And there wasn't any "Grenade **** Out!" no blood splats from bullet impact... I think that would be a very, VERY welcome game on my console. For one thing, I could actually involve my nephew!
But back on-topic, it's a shame that they pro'ly won't do anything further with "RAGE", but maybe the next game they start now will rock even more. And in the meantime, that game is pretty big, and could support multiple plays.
I hope so. I'm probably 85% or so done with the game and I have loved it. As a shooter, it is fantastic and I've spent about 16 hours on it so far, which is a very good length. I don't know why but I love playing the card game also. It's pretty simple but addicting to me. I thought I read there was a poster somewhere in Rage 1 with a Rage 2 poster, indicating a possible sequel.
Hope not the game was garbage.

I see in your profile that most of your highly rated games are RPG's and most of your average or low rated games are FPS. It would seem you aren't a huge fan of FPS, so why would you want them not to make a game that you don't care about but others obviously enjoyed? I don't get it.
I just finished RAGE recently and I was wondering if they posted anything about a sequel. And there is! woo! I found a couple articles with quotes about the team highly considering about RAGE2 and they want to work on it. When it comes out? is another question. Awesome thread! haha saved me time. Fixing abit on the AI and minor glitches and RAGE2 would be amazing.
No, probably not.
That being said, I really enjoyed RAGE; the combat was very satisfying and the AI was fantastically done.
i seriously doubt it, rage was one of the most boring games i've ever played, the impression i got was that it tried to do what borderlands did but failed miserably..
I doubt we would see RAGE again, id is probably going to concentrate on their mainline titles series like Doom or Quake from now on.
BTW I am the exact opposite, I could care less if a game has sequels and in most cases like Demon's Souls I prefer they don't. Sometimes games should be just stand-alone.
[QUOTE="SoNin360"]It was an pretty good game, though the ending was pretty bad from what I remember. I would play a sequel if it were to come out.H_M_1I've still not played Rage yet, is it a big game? It's fairly large, but the story is linear and there are just a few things to do in the open world that's mostly empty. Still an enjoyable game, just not much to do to take advantage of its size.
I do love open world FPS and I loved Rage, although the missions were a bit shallow. I really hope for a sequel and I do believe that there is a sequal because it really shows you the possibility of a sequal at the end. If there isn't, I'd be happy to play Borderlands 2, although I like the graphics and the mechanism of Rage more
Yes there will be; Lead Programmer John Carmack stated just before Rage's release that they'll work on Doom 4 after Rage, then after that focus all efforts on Rage 2 for next-gen consoles.
Oh yeah!! Doom 4, I enjoy the Doom games. Still remember Doom 3.Yes there will be; Lead Programmer John Carmack stated just before Rage's release that they'll work on Doom 4 after Rage, then after that focus all efforts on Rage 2 for next-gen consoles.

Never played a Doom game before, the genre never interested me back in those days. But now I certainly am, and apparently, Doom 4 is going to look 3 times better than Rage graphically. I can't wait to see what that'll look like :D
I hope so. The first one was very promising and I would like to see how they could flesh out that world.
