Do You Think Trophies Should Be Optional?

As in, you have the ability to turn them on and off.

Personally, I don't care about trophies at all and would prefer to turn them off... if Sony ever gave me the option.

If you dont care for trophies just leave them alone...altough a option to turn the "You got....trophy" message could be turned off

I think trophies need to be wiped off the face of the universe before people start going craz-, I mean, crazier.

I think it's odd that people complain about an optional feature.

I'd like to hear why you would like them to be turned off... the only thing about them that could be considered annoying is the notification, and even that is only an insignificant little box..

I think they are great, It kind of gives you some sort of motivation to do things in a game that you would not normally do. Like some games I would never consider playing again, even if i loved them. But if sony decides to give me an "atta-boy" for beating the game in a different mode/difficulty/method.. that changes things. For me at least.....

I don't care about trophies at all, but they don't bother me either. I suppose if you wanted to turn them off, that would be nice.

I don't think they should be optional, just ignore them...

trophies make good forum sigs. lol. there is an option to turn it off. well, not exactly. it just disables the new trophy acquired pop out message and the sound along with it..

I couldn't care less about trophies, but I honestly don't see the need to disable them.

Ignoring them is very easy.

Well only thing that bothers me about trophies is that alot of the older games don't have them, they feel incomplete to me now....especially when I started using GamFly and get them alot. But aside from that, my InFamous plat is prob the only plat I'm ever going to have.

because i enjoy collecting them. and the noise it makes when you get one is sweet. so sweet i don't mind playing my games for friends just to hear that noise.

no i will always play games trophies or not, i just find trophies to be a nice addition to my gaming experience. it has probably made me play games even more, since i just said i'm playing my games again and again for other people.

No, there shouldn't be an option to disable them. Why would anyone want to disable them? I mean, who doesn't like hearing that little sound when you earn a trophy?! :D

Easy. If thats all thats bothering you about trophies.. It's not really the trophies that is the problem then is it.

I don't mind getting trophies.. I actually like the *ding*.. so i wouldn't want to disable them as in won't be able to get them.. however i just played a match in cod4 about a few hours ago and some guy compared trophies with me (for whatever reason) and said " You NOOB, you have the platinum in Dynasty warriors 6 empires but only 30% in uncharted drake's fortune, get a life".. so i would love to be able to hide them from the public because unfortunately that isn't the first message i received like that (actually get them all the time).. i play a lot of games and not all of them are the high profile massively popular AAA crap..

For the life of me, I can't understand why most of you wouldn't at least want an option that's, you know ... optional. It's like if Sony decided to make the XMB background color pink with no options to change it.

The more options you have, the better.

Trophies take me out of the game, their notifications are annoying, and they've sparked delusions in people who think that pixels on their TV screens actually amount to real world success at something. What's the point of comparing these worthless little icons? So I can see if someone else has 4 bronzes and 2 golds? How swallow of a society are we?

So basically, people that don't share your opinion are idiots? An option to disable the notifications, I don't see how that could hurt. If somebody else likes getting trophies it doesn't mean they're delusional though. The "point" of comparing trophies is purely for bragging rights and, despite what you say, do actually mean the player accomplished something (video game success is still something even if it is only just a game).

Besides, why do you care what other people like to do anyway?

I like trophies. I feel like trophies show howmuch I like a game. I've decided to attempt to get platinums for all of my favorite games, sort of like an homage to those games. :P

The option is already there... if you think about it. Either get them, or don't.

I think there should be an option to display an trophy-based alerts. Having some box appear on screen can completely ruin some games - Dead Space for example. Then again, I do love trophies - gives you something extra to work at when you're finished with the game.

I feel so tired of being forced to get trophies, they really should be optional. Why should i have to get them? I should be allowed to ignore them. What's the point in getting them if everyone must get them? I guess it's a way to measure how many games you can buy and how fast you can get every trophy before moving onto the next game and getting every trophy in that game as well. I'd really like to stop playing LBP but I can't until I can get enough people to heart me, meanwhile a lot of good games have come out that i can't play because of these damn trophies that aren't optional.

i wouldn't mind being able to remove a certain trophy. having ragdoll kung fu at 4 percent makes me sad
