Right now they have used 40GB for $230 and used 80GB (4 USB ports) for $280. I really want a PS3 with BC but I don't know if it is safe to get a used system from gamestop. Any thoughts or past experiences?

I have never bought systems from them..and never used..so dunno..but ppl here seem to have a good point
Seeing how Gamestops rigorous testing lab simply puts a disc in it to see if runs and if it does it qualifies as a passing grade, I'd say no way in hell.
i would not do it at all...what gamestop does is they will buy back broken systems and send them back to get fixed however we all know the great job companies do with fixing systems...esepcially with 360s. I would save up for a new one because u will get more out of a new system then a used one any time
No do not! i say this because my 60gig had a artifacts problem and they took it.. They turned it on and put in a game and when it launched they turned it off and gave me my money..
My friend bought a used 40GB model from Gamestop about 4 months ago and it works fine and he's left it on all day at times. I bought a used Gamecube from them 3 years ago and it works fine also but I also don't play it alot either. That being said I'd just save up for a new one. The price isn't that much different between used 80gb and a new 120gb slim model.
I would also say no, its a roll of the dice and for a little extra for buying new you're getting a guarantee.
no its hard to find one with bc, just get a new slim and play ps3 games on it, and get a used ps2 for like 50 bucks, or play ur current ps2
I think it depends on how much warranty they are offering. I'm in the UK and recently bought a used Xbox 360 bundle from Game with a two year warranty thst is the same level of warranty as if it were new!
Depending on the situation, even that's hit or miss. My PSP broke and I knew people who bought Wii's that died 5 days after. Buying lets say a PS3 slim doesn't really guarantee anything. It simply means it's less likely.I would also say no, its a roll of the dice and for a little extra for buying new you're getting a guarantee.

I Would buy A used System But Not From there.
If its scratched its obviously a Sign that theres a possbility that Something Could Happen to it In the Near Future.
If its Nice and Shiny, then Buy It.
But Even if it messes up, You Can still Return It. Or just get a 3 Year Warranty.
Hell no ill never buy a used system. Unless its considerably cheaper in comparison to a new one atleast 80 percent cheaper then retail price.
$20 bucks more, and you get a 120G PS3 slim....if you want BC, get a PS2 online for like 50 bucks ! better that way
I don't trust anything used; Although it wasn't until this generation that I started buying used games simply because Blu-Ray discs are impossible to scratch. Plus it's cheaper and if I don't like the game I have 7 days to return it for a full refund. ;)
