here in australia is on the Vodaphone network, so my shop JB hifi only deals with telstra......so they are refusing to sell the 3G model

As far as I'm aware Vodafone is the preferred partner in all those countries where they are offering 3G service for the Vita. I'm sure that includes Australia. Here in the UK they are the preferred partner but they are not the exclusive 3G carrier for the Vita. I believe all the carriers here except for possible Three are planning on providing 3G plans for the Vita. I suspect the deal with Telstra and JB HiFi is due to a conflict of interest as they probably have some kind of marketing or promotion deal with them. Therefore they cannot sell a product that conceivably uses a rival carriers services. I could be wrong though about Australia. You won't be able to unless the Vita can be hacked and even then Sony will do what ever they can to close those loop holes more because of piracy then anything else.im having problems with att. i might sign up with verizon instead

With all due respect, that's incorrect. Vodafone is the "preferred" carrier here with Sony even including their SIM with the 3G model but any service provider will work. I assume it's the inclusion of the Vodafone SIM card that has JB's panties in a knot :P

That seems like the issue. If the sim wasn't included it probably wouldn't be an issue for them.im having problems with att. i might sign up with verizon instead

if it were to get unlocked it would only work with T-MOBILE. Verizon doesn't use SIM cards for 3G. And You could probaby get it to work with T-Mobile without unlock but it would only work on Edge just like people who use the iPhone on T-mobile.
At&t is your only option here in America.im having problems with att. i might sign up with verizon instead

I would just love a way for it to be used with my current cell phone plan. JustPlainLucasI was thinking the same thing. If I could just pop my sim card in to do whatever I needed to do and then remove it that'd be prefect. But I guess I'll just have to find out how to tether with my phone without my carrier knowing and save $50 getting a wifi model. Which is fine by me :P

Xperia Play with ATT. Im pretty sure Hotspot counts as tethering though. Since Im rooted I SHOULD be able to do it undetected and be alright for smaller downloads and whatever else I need to do. They recently started throttling people like crazy though and its getting ridiculous. Im considering going full wifi. Please Log In to post.
