I finished it.
It took me over 100 hours to complete, over 50 missions (mostly french missions).
There are around 35 different units types of which are classified into 20 different groups.
groups vary from horse units (containing sword, lance, halberd horsemen along with lance wielding knights), elephant units, camels units, chariots, magic wielders, etc.
Your gains experience points by commanding each type of unit which can then be used to upgrade their stats or skills.
Each mission as a main objective which ask either to defend at siege different towns cities and villages in different parts of france.
Some missions also have some alternate objectives which usually grant you some extra money at the end of your contracts.
You can use your money to buy armor pieces, weapons, pennons (which are single use items that give bonuses to your squad or penalities to enemy squad for a certain amount of time. ) and mercenaries which can be summoned on the battlefield (these are really useful if you want to upgrade specific units or if you know you'll face specific enemies)
Do not be misleaded this game is not a button smashing game like dynasty warriors or games like devilmay cry or god of war where you have to pull out combos. It's a strategic battlefield simulation (which means that blindly rushing alone and squadless into an enemy fortress often leads to a quick demise especially if facing an enemy commander)
Some quests are also available for example : a blacksmith will ask you to recover the pieces of a shield that he created for his brother which shattered due to some imperfections.
Personnally i liked the game And im keeping it
Hope i answered some of your questions
