It's best to have a mic if you really want to be able to work with the other player, or it's best to explain to the other what you are going to be doing before the start of all the missions. Are you up for some spec ops?
don't cheap out on your ps3 mic... USB mics on the PS3 are terrible! i can never understand half the people on there... you can always tell when they have the official mic because the audio quality is crystal clear, its like talking on a phone ...

Same, I think most purchased a mic when they got MW2 sadly I hear many 11 year olds on the mics.
Same for me. I was going to get a mic. Then I heard how stupid 99% of the people with mics are. Practically nobody uses it to strategize for the online games. You mostly hear trash talking, music, or just people talking in the background. It's the same on XBOX live. I have to shut it off or turn down the volume anway. So I decided no real point in me getting one. I guess I will eventually, but no real hurry given how little use I'd probably get out of it.

How about the Plantronics Voyager headsets? Are they as good or better than the "official" PS3 headset? I figure with one of those you might at least get dual use out of them.

why do they even make perks like evesdrop? I mean...why would I want a perk to hear a lot of 11 years old kids swearing and someone "singing" crap I mean rap songs?
I use my Rock Band microphone. I think it works fine, everybody I talk to can understand me. If anybody has Rock Band or Guitar Hero the microphone works for online chat.

NOTHING IS BETTER THAN THE OFFICIAL HEADSET! i can state this enough.. i've used cheap 30 dollar BT headsets all the way up to a 150 dollar motorola and nothign even comes close to the official headset quality wise...
