Basically what the title says, I have a limited budget of £500 and am not sure if a £500 3D TV will enhance the gaming experience enough to justify the price.

So anyone who uses A 3D TV how does it look with a good 3D PS3 game?

Cheers

Well, I can not speak for everyone but I can tell you that I find the 3D very gimmicky. Sometimes you can REALLY enjoy the effect (as in Super StarDust HD) but you can also play some games where it becomes irrelevant.

I have played God of war Origins (nice) on 3D, Gran Turismo 5 (nice...), Ico (good), Shadow of he Colossus (nice), Killzone 3 (good), Uncharted 3 (good), SuperStarDust (great) and WipeOut (great).

So, as you can see, I can`t say that the 3D changed my "enjoyment metter" a lot. Sometimes it is a nice addition. I think you should try it for yourself on a friend's 3D TV so you can see if this effect adds (or not) something to your enjoyment.

I have 2 3d tvs, i love watching movies in 3d but can't stand 3d in games. Having a controlled environment works well with 3d and is why movies are best suited for 3d, every user gets the same experience so 3d can be optimize to every detail. 3d also works best with stagnant images and long shots to give you time to get the effect, with games the camera can move and pan too fast and too often an just creat headaches in my case. There are a few games which 3d works well wipeout and super stardust. I have COD, batman, crysis, kill zone, avatar, gears of war 3, just to name a few game. I didn't like 3d in any of those games, I'm not saying 3d can't work in games it just not suited well for fps games in my opinion.

I would say overall it adds to the experience. For games there is usually some good parts where you really notice it and in effect makes you like having it. It was great practically all the time in Shadow of the Colossus, in the Jak collection it made everything somewhat cooler and was awesome at some parts like when Jak goes on blue eco platforms that shoot him into the sky. In Uncharted 3 I would say it made everything somewhat worse looking but made shootouts more interesting for me cause of added depth and I was playing on crushing. In Motorstorm I think it ehances everything somewhat and made the effects awesome but I can't say that it made me a better driving because I don't think I played it much in 2D. I haven't tried it on Batman AC yet but thats next as far as 3D goes.

my older tv was active 3d, and i thought it was cool, but would get headaches sometimes. i just picked up a new 3dtv and it is passive instead of active, and now i get NO crosstalk, and NO headaches. its freakin awesome. i love watching movies in 3d and playing games in 3d. so yea i would say its worth it, but you gotta make sure that your 3dtv wont give you problems with crosstalk.

I've only tried one on several occasions, it really depends on the type of games you're playing really. Most of the games I play don't make much of a difference but if you were to play something like a golfing game or something else that requires more depth perception, it's pretty sweet.

My reasoning for buying one is not only for gaming but also movies, and so i think it will be justified, and if it does add to the experience even a little bit then i guess i will take the upgrade
