Does every game for the ps3 have an install you have to perform the first time you boot the game up? I've had a ps3 for about 3 months and honestly, GTA 4 is going to be my first game. Do these installs take up massive amounts of space?
only demos and some really werid games (lost planet and DMC4) have to install
why are u worrying so much about this?

i have the 40 GB version and I didnt know how much space the installs take up. I was thinking that if every ps3 game has to install and the installs are big(like GBs) that my 40 GB might run out if I get too many games.
@mattimusprime Don't worry about installs. I have over 15 games, about 6 PSN games, my music and 5 years of pictures on my 60gb PS3 and I still have plenty of room on my Harddrive.
Most games offer installs as an option, I always choose yes because I don't like loading screens. I love that PS3 has the option to do installs. It's something MS did right with Xbox1, but didn't do with the new one for some reason. You can always delete the installs if your not playing the game and you are running out of space. I personally haven't had to do that yet.
Only a few games have installs and most installs are optional or less than 500mb ...
I have 15 games including NG:S(3.3gb optional install) and DMC4(5gb install) ... and after that + 300 songs, 30 - 40 video's , 8 - 10 game demo's and gamesaves i have 16gb free space on my 60gb ...
A good amount of games require an install, but they're pretty small installations in terms of memory. If you use your PS3's hard drive for mainly gaming purposes, you'll have plenty of memory for a long time.
